It’s important that people write/email their own MP & ask them to support this Early Day Motion. The idea that people can just buy a baby & take it home like a bag groceries should be repugnant to all of us. The baby is unlikely to ever see their mother again.

O’Flaherty is trying to establish the same guru relationship with MPs on the equalities committee that Victor Madrigal did with the equivalent MSPs at Holyrood. That of course ended in a blocked bill, and 2 lost court cases. And wise MSPs will be grateful for that.
A Human Rights Commissioner has intervened to raise concerns with the implementation of the Supreme Court judgment in For Women Scotland. Is a showdown inevitable? https://t.co/lnVizUtWzW

Wake up, indeed. Michael O'Flaherty will keep on flogging self-ID over-writing sex to the detriment of women until institutions and politicians stop indulging his displaced missionary zeal.
The Council of Europe has warned that the UK gov’s treatment of trans people may breach human rights law. This must be a wake up call. We’ve seen an increase in hostility towards trans in recent years. Everyone deserves dignity, safety, & respect - that includes trans people.

"[S]urrogacy is reinforcing sexist stereotypes, causing psychological, physical, and reproductive violence, is increasing the risk of human trafficking and can amount to a form of slavery". Please ask your MP to support @tracygilbert72's EDM. https://t.co/FM3jzIWdER

Many thanks to @tracygilbert72 for tabling this Early Day Motion. We hope it gets cross-party support. Please contact your MP and ask them to sign.
Today an Early Day Motion has been published in Parliament, supporting @UNSRVAW’s report on surrogacy and asking UK Government to implement recommendations which include a total surrogacy ban. Thank you @tracygilbert72 for your steadfast work for women and children. @DHSCgovuk

@CommonsIDC 2/2 Members examined how effectively the UK has implemented the Women, Peace and Security agenda, and how women’s voices have been integrated into development programmes. You can watch below. https://t.co/CYXQezumaJ

1/2 Yesterday, the @CommonsIDC held an evidence session on Women, Peace and Security. The Committee heard from a former Afghan female politician and a Sudanese activist as part of its inquiry into the role of women in building peace and security globally.

This isn't credible at all from Michael Flaherty. Flaherty isn't an impartial judge, but a Council of Europe political appointee, who is an advocate of gender identity ideology. He can express his beliefs as here, but they don't have legal standing, and they are deeply contested.
Breaking: The government’s treatment of trans people in the UK could breach the European Convention on Human Rights, Europe’s human rights watchdog has claimed Michael O’Flaherty, the human rights commissioner for the Council of Europe - which oversees the ECHR - has written

Human rights cannot be applied selectively. The UK has binding obligations under the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) to uphold women’s sex-based rights and ensure their safety, privacy, and dignity. 🧵

😊 Suffragette Post box topper spotted in Northumberland!! Absolutely beautiful!! 💚🤍💜 HUGE thanks to whoever made this - it's glorious! [I'm not sure if it was in honour of Emily Wilding Davison's birthday on Saturday (11th Oct) - but I will take it as such anyway 🥳🎉]

Thanks for all the love for Neda's poems. It has had a huge effect on her. She is filled with hope despite the restrictions on her life in Afghanistan. She wrote this in my zoom class today. She is still 11.

The fact that this group expects MPs to ask for meetings with them - instead of the other way round - tells us all we need to know about current power dynamics within the party. The trans tail has been wagging the Lib Dem dog for far too long. But a sea change is on the way 🌊
@PaulKohlerSW19 And please spare us your deliberate misconstrual. We're always very happy to talk to our MPs and our door is always open to you. Very disappointing that you chose to do this publicly - it calls your intentions into question.

The deadline for the Scottish Government consultation on the draft SSI to add ‘Sex’ as a characteristic to the Hate Crime and Public Order (Scotland) Act 2021 has been extended until Friday. There's still time to submit a response.

The SNP has fully delivered just 35 of 100 pledges in 2021 Holyrood manifesto, Times analysis reveals. Free bikes and iPads for poor children, state childcare for one and two-year-olds and scrapping NHS dental charges among litany of broken promises. https://t.co/J03OKrm6b7

Congratulations to our sisters in the @FiLiA_charity organising group, and the volunteers who made the conference happen. Bringing women from all over the world to talk, argue (disagreement is good), network and socialise is a huge undertaking. Thank you for everything you do.
"Filia has concluded another successful conference — 2,400 participants & 250 speakers affirming it as the largest grassroots feminist conference in Europe. It proceeded despite a violent attack on the venue intended to prevent women gathering" #FiLiA2025

Good to see this making the editorial. The left has been badly weakened by the hold of "no-debate" on sex, gender and women's rights. It's more than time for dogmatic versions of identity politics to give way to discussion and respect for women. https://t.co/4a0vPQa6Rt
