🚍 Constituents told me the final Leeds train arrived with too little time to catch the last #1 bus to Knaresborough. 💬 I raised this with Harrogate Bus Company. It has been agreed the last bus will now depart at 12:25 am, allowing a smoother connection home. 🌙🕛

I absolutely love 65 Degrees, it’s a great cafe with fantastic food in town. I’ve finally got round to trying the Honk Kong style fried chicken, and it did not disappoint! Would very much recommend.

🏃♂️ Mixed it up, switching out Harrogate parkrun for Fountains Abbey this morning. ⏱️ An absolutely gorgeous run, clocking in just under 26 minutes. ☕️ Followed by a coffee in the cafe and a chat with constituents from Burton Leonard and Harrogate too!

I’ve written, alongside colleagues, to the Minister for Women & Equalities about the appointment of the new EHRC Chair. We share the concerns that both the JCHR and WEC had during the pre-appointment hearing. The EHRC urgently needs to rebuild trust with all communities.

As the letter from both the JCHR AND WEC said: Dr Stephenson was rightly commended for her work on women’s rights. But she did not demonstrate sufficient understanding of issues facing other protected groups - including race and disability. That’s a serious concern.
That’s because those concerns were partial, ill-founded and ill-informed. Government deserves plaudits for appointing someone who understands the role of an impartial regulator in upholding the law.

Despite concerns from both the JCHR & WEC about leadership, expertise, and ability to rebuild trust, the Government are pushing ahead with appointing Dr Stephenson as EHRC Chair. We felt we could not endorse the appointment. It is disappointing they have not listened.

It was great to be back with Harrogate Homeless Project, one year on since I last visited them. I spent time with them on both Tuesday & Wednesday - helping out volunteering in the kitchen, meeting clients, and more.
