When I was a teen watching SNL I noticed Maya Rudolph was ALWAYS PREGNANT for like, years. So I finally googled who kept knocking her up and was like “oh the director from Boogie Nights” and that was the first time I read Paul Thomas Anderson’s name.
Amy Poehler has this amazing story in her memoir about how once she was doing this gross character in the writers room and Jimmy started squealing “ew I don’t like it I don’t like it” and she got in his face and told him “I don’t give a fuck what you like” 😌😌
16 former employees describe ‘THE TONIGHT SHOW’ as a “pretty glum atmosphere” where they were belittled & intimidated by their bosses, including Jimmy Fallon.
Employees said they were afraid of Fallon’s “outbursts” & his erratic behavior.

I love this character so much, he’s both written a book called Boner and is a gamer but is also learning Korean to translate his wife’s sleep babble 🥺 so good
Comedy is now legal on Twitter, but you MUST declare it comedy first. You must say “this is a joke, it is for laughing, it is a comedy joke, I am not serious”, then it is okay, per free speech guidelines
She was pregnant during Inherent Vice too and they had to do her reshoots 4 days after she gave birth. I’m in awe of all the stuff she did while pregnant/having recently had kids and all the movies her and PTA have worked on together
Everyone who ISNT a homophobic weirdo should watch Cruising tonight! You will have a blast! And it *is* special and uniquely powerful to see this particular story on screen, esp for queer folks who don’t get this opportunity often. I love this movie so much. GO CRUISING!! ❤️🌈
My co worker just told me that this older woman left the EEOOA screening earlier because she didn’t know what was going on, and she asked if she could try the other movie instead. That other movie, ladies and gentlemen, was Beau is Afraid 😅😅
To be clear I’m not putting her down for being perplexed about video stores. There aren’t many left! We had a really fun time picking out 80s movies together and discussing John Hughes ✨
One of my regulars in the video store who I’ve known since he was 8 just came in to tell me he got accepted to college and then he rented Animal House and Old School and now I have to go sit in the corner and listen to Landslide and cry
Dude gave me shit for the price of movie tickets so I looked him dead in the eye and told him my hourly wage and then he quietly inserted his card into the machine
Once I read about how Robert De Niro ate a bowl of pasta and drank a milkshake every night before bed to gain weight for Raging Bull and it’s like…that’s just how I live my life.
My friend Jon got suspended in middle school for wearing a button that said “I love Holes” because the school thought it was sexual but he meant the novel by Louis Sachar
When I first saw this pic of me (modeling a new merch shirt) I didn’t like it, but now I’m so so so glad that I have a photo to prove that I once worked in a real brick and mortar video store. And that we had a Wild at Heart cutout.
The inventory is done! All movies accounted for, no film left behind. Liberty Hall Video is STILL renting movies out of the box office every day from 1-9pm!
Check it out at our website or on our Letterboxd account under “lists” at
Digging through some old boxes and found George Bush’s response letter to some very strange drawings I sent him in 2001. My parents framed this and put it in my bedroom 😂
The paparazzi have found internet celebrity
@staticbluebat
once again!! Will she ever get a moments peace??? Cmon people she’s a person just like you and me!!
Every band is calling their 2022 tour the “in person for real, actually together, can you believe it, I’m so excited to see someone other than my wife” tour
The Waffle House on the highway is blasting 90s R&B, all the employees are roasting each other and having fun, and I just got hella complimented by all the girlies here on my tattoo. This is my new bar.
I started crying laughing 90 secs into Elvis because I realized Tom Hanks was going to narrate the entire film with this whole ghost of Elvis past bullshit
Staff Picks from the Stacks!
@Kaliebud
pick this week is Punch Drunk Love, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. You can rent this title and more at Liberty Hall Video, in the box office, open every day from 1-9pm 🪐
Ppl: SNL was better in the 70s!
SNL in the 70s: 15 mins of sweaty John Belushi singing in a bee costume, followed by a 45 min George Carlin set. *Chevy falls*
Somehow most surprising part of Jackass Forever was when Chris Pontius walked in with a stroller to the set. Excuse me??? After all his dick and balls have been through??
Love when an old man comes into the video store and asks for the Matrix and I point him to the Popular Female Director’s section and he looks at me all puzzled. Say sumn Walter, say sumn, I dare you.
Will never forget the kid who stumbled into the theater high off his gourd today, asked if we had any food, tried to watch the last 20 mins of EEAAO without a ticket, then asked if he could “low key come watch it tomorrow instead”. Babe, high key you can come watch it tomorrow.
I would give anything to be able to watch the 11 minute pie fight that was the original ending of Dr. Strangelove. It was supposed to be played straight but they couldn’t stop having fun so it got scrapped.
Working in an indie theater is kind of awkward sometimes, it’s so much more intimate with our customers. Sometimes I sell a ticket to the one person who’s come to watch a movie and then we walk up together to the theater and I start it for them. Imma try to hold hands soon 😂
When the elderly actor you chose to do a filmography podcast about keeps doing 20th century period pieces that average like 12% on rotten tomatoes and you thought he’d be done by now
For those that don’t know, I work at
@libertyhall
a historic indie cinema and video library, the latter of which closed its storefront in July. Our bosses agreed to let us keep renting movies out of the Box Office window, allowing us to keep our collection.
