Last week, the U.S Government restored PEPFAR funding for the remainder of 2025—a vital step we applaud. But the work isn’t over. We need funding secured longer term and resources must now reach the frontlines quickly to prevent new cases & ensure access to treatment.

Thanks to the generosity of the American people, #PEPFAR has helped save over 26 million lives – it’s one of the most successful global health programs in history. The recent funding freeze has shown just how fragile that progress is—and how urgently support is still needed.

By making PrEP easier to access—including online, via community outreach, and at GP surgeries —and offering it proactively to those who need it, regardless of sexual orientation or gender, we are one step close to ending new cases of HIV in the UK.

The NHS has just been given the green light to significantly expand access to HIV prevention medication, PrEP. We welcome the updated @BASHH_UK/@BritishHIVAssoc guidelines on the use of PrEP, which mark a major step forward for HIV prevention in the UK.

Countries and communities are stepping up by increasing domestic budgets to protect vital HIV treatment services. But no country or community can end AIDS alone: we must stand together. 👉Read the @UNAIDS report:

Meanwhile, 1.3 million more people tested positive for HIV last year, showing that prevention efforts are still falling short. To protect what we've achieved, HIV/AIDS must remain a global priority.

Today’s @UNAIDS report shows that by the end of 2024, AIDS-related deaths were at their lowest in over 30 years. But this data was collected before the collapse in international HIV funding — a crisis that could undo decades of progress.
