Nobody is more excited by the prospect of the far left speaking for the Democratic Party than those who want to see the Democratic Party self-destruct.
Unless you have the IQ of a meat thermometer, you can see the split in the Democratic Party. Nobody pays attention to what Presidents Obama or Clinton, Sen. Schumer, or former Speaker Pelosi say anymore. The real leaders are Zohran Mamdani, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez, and Sen. Sanders.

The Republican retconning of reasons why DC can’t become a state is pathetic. If there was evidence from the historical record about standards for statehood that DC doesn’t meet, they would cite that, but there’s not, so they make up shit about insufficient “economic diversity.”.
8/ In spite of that precedent, some argue that DC should now become a state. But DC alone (rather than as part of Maryland) doesn’t meet the criteria we’ve historically applied to statehood. Although the Constitution doesn’t specify minimum population or geographic size, our.

This “DC should become part of Maryland” crap ignores the fact that neither the people of DC nor the people of Maryland want that. Seems kind of relevant!.
🧵 1/ If the residents of DC want to be part of a state, the solution is *not* DC statehood. Any solution should involve reverting land ceded by Maryland for the creation of DC—excepting only a narrow corridor encompassing the White House, Capitol, & Supreme Court—to Maryland
