It’s time to pass a clean continuing resolution and end this shutdown today. No half measures, and no gamesmanship. Put every single federal worker back on the job with full back pay — today. https://t.co/RP59HPzGuB

This week, Congress pushed our nation into the fourth week of a full government shutdown – an avoidable crisis that is harming families, communities, and the very institutions that hold our country...

Why Mayor Melvin Carter’s former policy director and mayoral opponent thinks a different style is what St. Paul needs right now.

Most Americans would find it incredibly difficult to work for 5 weeks without a paycheck. This shutdown is a choice. Let’s end this and pay our workers—a vote that shows principle over political party.

According to a new “autopsy” of their 2024 campaign strategy, Democrats have badly weakened their party with left-leaning ideas and rhetoric. They’ve grown their support only among self-described “white liberals” while losing ground with all other voters.

The center-left group Welcome relied on polling of hundreds of thousands of voters over six months for its findings, shared first with Semafor.

.@AFGENational is firmly on the right side of this and we should absolutely listen. Our servicemembers, federal workers, and Capitol Police are hurting. It’s one of many reasons why I’ve continuously voted to open our government. We need to end this chaos.

Watching this race closely. Minneapolis has been a national exemplar in how to appropriately build housing, and keep costs/rents down. Jacob Frey is right, and every major city in the US should follow Minneapolis’ example ⬇️⬇️⬇️
Minneapolis kept rents far below the national average by building more housing, affordable and market-rate, and that’s essential to my plan. Your rent control proposal would make that nearly impossible. It's failed in city after city, and would be disastrous for Minneapolis

The the title says it all - How will next Mayor fix Midway - the current Mayor has had 8 years, and in that time Midway has gotten much worse, not better - it’s really that simple, what he’s doing isn’t working, it’s time to give someone else a chance

We walked Snelling and University avenues with Mayor Melvin Carter and challenger MN state Rep. Kaohly Her. They talked CVS, Spruce Tree and Allianz Field futures.

Jacob Frey's only solution to the affordable housing crisis is to build more, but under his leadership we've only seen rent and property taxes go up. When I’m elected, yes we will build more housing AND we'll use every tool in the toolbox to address housing needs in Minneapolis.

Latest arena plan: $400M total — Wild pays half, city and county split the rest, with the county recouping some via revenue share. No state ask. Saint Paul’s in a tough spot — spending up, low cash on hand, sales tax tapped out, years of poor legislative work. Badly mismanaged.

@SteveSubera Source: no one at the city or county will talk about it publicly. There’s a real chance the arena isn’t funded. It’s hard to overstate how poorly this has been handled by the city — bordering on incompetence.

Rent control has brought development in St. Paul to a grinding halt and damaged the reputation of the Twin Cities around the country - @EvanRamstad
startribune.com
The city is already growing more slowly than was expected this decade. Rent control would be as damaging as it's been in St. Paul.

THREE MORE YEARS?: St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter made youth sports free, led through riots and a pandemic, gave every newborn a college savings account and violent crime has plummeted. But downtown, rent control and the firefighters union would like a word. https://t.co/dZBMKz7af3

All the rhetoric in the world doesn’t change the facts - St Paul hasn’t built nearly enough housing, property taxes have gone up more than 50 percent in last 7 years, city budget has almost doubled, most major projects touted 7 years ago stalled or never started, fentanyl deaths
Some are busy knocking doors — others are busy building more doors to knock on. Rochester, Shakopee, even Alexandria — all a fraction of Saint Paul’s size — are building 6–9× more doors per capita. Under Carter, the results speak for themselves: slower growth, fewer doors.

The heights was talked about 7 years ago as major development in Mayors state of city - two terms later nobody lives there - same story with so many other things that take far too long to get done or never do
@1wordplastics I was excited for The Heights thinking it was going to develop before Midway and Highland Bridge and give the East Side something to brag about. But after two attempts at getting money from the state will there be a third and what is the plan if it's another no?
