When people complain about the amount of mining (lihtium, copper etc) needed to enable the transition from fossil fuels to batteries... just show them this graph from FutureCrunch Total transition mineral mining needed is 0.186% of the coal, gas, and oil extracted every year

The 2024 climate action plan is out. In transport more or less all of the targets seem to be the same as in the 2021 and 2023 plans using Avoid, Shift & Improve. Once again released on Christmas Week 🧵

Good morning with good news: China will add 300 GW of solar and wind in 2023, almost double its 2022 totals, says BNEF. That compares to the 338 GW total built globally in 2022. As for solar alone, China had installed 142 GW in 2023 thru October. Wow! https://t.co/KY4kjddAs3.

Notice the half hearted applause here? The public simply don't understand the scale of the coming climate collapse. Dear @JustStop_Oil @XRebellionUK please refocus on demanding MEDIA TELL THE FULL TRUTH or we are going to lose. Most of the public don't understand why people

This is a disgrace, and is common all around Ireland. Macroom got a €280m bypass and we can’t even build footpaths for kids to walk to school.

Today’s commute in Macroom. Priority is given to cars. There’s no footpath here for both a secondary school and a primary school, so we dodge moving cars @SRTS_Ire @CorkSafetyAlert @irishexaminer @rtenews

At the #Hydrogen🇮🇪Conference, @GasNetIrl unveiled a report showing that over 90% of Ireland's natural gas-powered equipment can handle up to 20% hydrogen blends. This groundbreaking research, is a significant step for #Sustainability 🍃 https://t.co/hex0ghlkzM

Great insights from the #H2Irl Conference in Belfast from Danielle Stewart @nationalgas_uk on its #Hydrogen progress around their Project Union and Future Grid plans as well as the need to build a strong evidence base to support government and regulatory policy decision making.

“Tipping points in the Earth system pose threats of a magnitude never faced by humanity,” This is really happening guys. I’m sorry to be Debbie Downer but there has never been a bigger threat and the world is acting like it’s not real. We’ve squandered decades. It’s way past

We are choosing our future right now. By 2030 we collectively will have chosen either 'business as usual' which will lead us to a future of destruction and increasing human misery OR the path of exponential decarbonization which can lead us to a clean, healthy, just world.

Listening to the recording of this already infamous exchange between Mary Robinson & Al Jaber: extremely confusing. He says there is no science to support fossil fuel phase-out, indicates this discussion is alarmist, immature and “finger pointing” BUT https://t.co/eRScndbOlB
