✉️ We’ve written an open letter to the Prime Minister. The role of Disability Minister is no longer a dedicated role, and has been downgraded and merged with the role of a more junior minister. The UK’s 16 million disabled people deserve better.

So, to recap on a busy and largely unedifying day: 🧒Disabled kids are being blamed for councils' budget problems 🏛️Meanwhile 98% of SEND Tribunal findings are in favour of disabled children. Raised eyebrows re: financial wisdom of fighting these cases would be proportionate.

NEW POST: SEND Tribunal statistics 2023: When will councils stop wasting public funds defending SEND appeals when they fail almost all the time? @captaink77 serves up the damning analysis, while @Tanialt provides the #infographics https://t.co/UtUGWd132t

Four staff from my son's "special school" restrained him face down on the floor till he couldn't breathe and he wet himself. We campaign to uphold the rights of children like Calum from the misuse of restraint and seclusion. #CalumsLaw #NoPunishment https://t.co/LTrgHlsGJU

6 in 10 of the people who died from Covid were disabled. Millions spent years shielding to protect themselves. Lessons must be learned from this. As the UK Covid Inquiry begins, it’s vital that the experiences of disabled people are heard. https://t.co/M8l0W4itdT

🚨 The government is set to rewrite the benefits system. #Budget2023 But they’ve made many, many mistakes when they’ve tried to do this in the past. They must now focus on building trust in a system that has failed disabled people for decades 🧵 1/8
