We’re so cooked man. This is true of any three points as long as they aren’t all collinear. I love conspiracy theories that are predicated on never taking a geometry class.
What the F**k. No clue how I knew to check this... Intuition? 🤔 Grassy Knoll. Ford's Theater. UVU Court Yard. Yup. All 3 aligned on a perfect circle. How dumb to they think we are?

Resistance training: the most potent tool for muscle growth. But do men and women benefit equally? Our new meta-analysis led by @MartinRefalo found: ➡️ Men saw slightly greater absolute muscle growth ➡️ Relative gains were nearly identical between sexes ➡️ Type I muscle fibre

Does anyone know of a potassium-enriched salt (like Morton "Lite Salt") that comes in larger crystals, like Kosher salt? I've toyed with the idea of switching over for years, but I really like me some pinchable crystals.
We now have two large, convincing randomized controlled trials reporting that replacing regular salt with potassium-enriched salt substitute (~75% NaCl, 25% KCl) reduces cardiovascular events and probably all-cause mortality. https://t.co/0ADHpgjihZ

Whereas "practically relevant" is usually referring to the average magnitude of the difference, or the ability to make accurate predictions for individuals.

This is also what's often meant when people say, "just because something's statistically significant, that doesn't always mean it's practically relevant." "Statistically significant" generally has something to do with the confidence intervals (whether people realize it or not)

Good thread here. This is a concept that a lot of people struggle with: you can be extremely confident about group level means/differences/correlations, etc., but still have poor ability to make predictions/precise recommendations for individuals. This thread illustrates it well
Significant correlation doesnt imply good individual prediction If you have asked "Why cant my apps predict my response when they have so much data on everyone?" Because lots of data improves *confidence intervals* but DOESNT improve *prediction intervals* Lets simulate! 🧵/14

I should probably soften this slightly. Lie or miscommunication (it's possible that someone misspoke, or the journalist misinterpreted). Either way, it's deeply irresponsible for the publication to let the article go out as-written.
This is an obvious lie, and some of the most dangerous fitness advice I've ever seen from a celebrity. If you do this, there's a very good chance you will get hyponatremia and die.

A fluid ounce per pound is also more than most people actually need, but if you want a weight-based heuristic for water intake, that's a better one.

There are a lot of new products that claim to help improve your sleep. What's supported by the evidence, and what's (probably) BS? The new episode of the SBS pod should point you in the right direction:
