Good conversation. Not incompatible, just different perspectives on the same questions. Population health policy/promotion 🤷‍♂️ Elite performance optimisation.Mechanistic Ex Phys 🤷‍♂️ Applied sport sci.Controlled causal inference 🤷‍♂️ Real-world ecological validity.
Hey Steve!! I’m really not here to argue, but I do want to (respectfully!) clarify a few things about our paper so it’s not misrepresented. Appreciate the chance to add a bit of nuance to the discussion!.

Exactly the same for our meta comparing training exclusively below maximum metabolic steady state (MMSS) in MOD & HVY, to training which included HIIT above MMSS in SVR. Greater improved VO2max, but no difference in endurance performance (🧵🔗👇).
Re: the Molmen paper - their “Endurance Training” group includes anything below LT2. But very few studies actually prescribe training below LT1. So that paper doesn’t provide support for Zone 2 specifically. Just steady state exercise, most likely above Zone 2. So, it’s more like.

Similar to other 'invisible injuries' such as repeated concussion or heart issues,. It's a difficult decision, but at some point the health of the rider must take priority over professional sport. We are working to improve detection & management options. (thanks @DJ_Lipman).

Nice review of data > vibes!.My initial thoughts: "zone 2" is not magic. Z2 is better when we can do more volumes of it.If we are time/volume-limited, Z2 becomes proportionally less important. If we are stress-limited (training or non), Z2 becomes proportionally more important.IMO
It's out!! I am so excited to share this review addressing popular beliefs and claims within popular media around Zone 2 training. I feel very privileged to have worked on this with my amazing co-authors, Dr. Brendon Gurd, Andres Moran-MacDonald, and @gibalam. Social media has

Is this "cheating" but everything else they were doing in this non-official "demonstration" wasn't? Is there a line they crossed?. The rules of sport are arbitrary, but sport is defined by those rules. If we're playing outside the rules, we're just not playing the same sport.
New Update to my women's sub 4 mile attempt article. Nike cheated. They apparently used "moving" time instead of the actual gun time. All to shave half a second off her time. It's shameful behavior. I break it all down:
