A hack to get cheaper kayaks - ask the manufacturer for the defected ones. We thought a few kayaks for 10% of price because color wasn’t perfect or the outside of mold had some imperfections

6 months ago I started at Hadrian as a factory technician. Within that time, I’ve learned how to operate 5-axis machines and even train other technicians.
The team is incredibly talented and working towards the mission. Each person has taught me to be better.

For the past month, I’ve been working at Harvey Performance Co helping build America’s cutting tools. It’s been really great so far! It’s a good culture, I work with people who are kind and will tell you when you’ve made a mistake, and I’m learning a lot.

There’s a variety of types of foundries.

Over the next few years, we will see more hard tech companies move inland.
California is a great hub for building your HQ and initial R&D production factories. But you need more land, cheaper labor, etc. to achieve the scale and impact you want to.

Today I followed our melt guy. Man molten metal is heavy!
He spends a lot of his time sweeping the sand in his area that builds up each day. He mentioned he has been complaining about a fan that blew sand his way for years.
We fixed it in about 5 minutes and sand stopped.

I spoke with someone today who has been in the foundries since '75.
He told me all about how the Navy used to have foundries on board their vessels. The Molder classification ended in '97.
Insane to me that people were operating foundries at sea, but they kept vessels in combat

It’s been an interesting time. I haven’t felt the need to pay towards my student loans since interest has not gained for 2.5 years.
$25k federal loans is about $252/mo payment.
Companies like SoFi and Nelnet (huge servicer) will start getting loan revenue again.

During college, I ran Everest’s Bar and Grill.
It started out small but ended up bringing 35+ people together a night and 150 people on a list.
I made lifelong connections, had a ton of fun, and most importantly learned how to cook! Plus it was beer money profitable
