THANK YOU! To everyone who donated for @Shelter, Iโve absolutely smashed my target (huge thanks to Vincent for his generosity). Itโs not too late to donate in honour of my sore legs and my wonderful friend Josie: https://t.co/u5QMSMej30

Interesting that players are allowed to make human errors, managers are allowed to make human errors, but match officials are absolutely not allowed to make human errors.

I think some people donโt realise that from 2012 until basically the pandemic lots of โtradesโ (like journalism!) had apprenticeships dry up as we pushed for more university attendees. Iโd have had to find nearly ยฃ10,000 with no help to do a journalism course outside uni in 2016.
@ClinOncDoc @CllrVClive It's important to distinguish between professions that require a degree (e.g. doctor) vs those that don't (e.g. chef). Value is an economic measure. What is the average wage of a media studies grad vs the total cost of training them?

I donโt get this take whenever I see it. Much like the paternity campaign that has gathered steam I saw this campaign at grassroots back near the start of this year and knew one mention in parliament and it would start to take off. And so it has.
someone in the british media ecosystem pushed a button and now youโre allowed to talk about student loans being fundamentally unfair.

If you want a sense of the feeling amongst graduates then the tone Oli strikes here sums it up. Many feel miss-sold and frustrated with politicians who paid nothing tell them itโs fair. (Usual caveat to not read this as for/against his point)
The combined tuition fees of the entire Question Time panel would not cover my cost for 1 year of uni. Is that fair?

Bunch of middle class people on the timeline debating what counts as working class? Twitter is so back

Not saying Steve is wrong but the idea that no one with naff grades went to university to get naff degrees in the 1980s and 90s is not true.
We can have one of two systems. Choose one. 1. Anyone who wants can go to Uni regardless of grades and ability can go. But you must pay for it. And loaning the money will come with interest like all loans. 2. Only the best and brightest go and the Gov pays.

I think what a lot of people fail to realise is that this combined with more people going to university in the 2010s and the minimum wage rising and repayment thresholds freeze means there is half a generation paying 9% more tax than everyone else for all their working lives.

And yet the BBC has covered the Iran protests daily across all platforms, including on major bulletins, in English and via BBC News Persian...

People. Love. Local.
Strange but trueโฆ.biggest audience on BBC1 on Christmas Eve was for a 10 minute regional news bulletin which attracted a little under 2million viewers at 5.20pm, just pipping Eastenders, 1.9m, & Paddington, 1.8m for bragging rights as the channels biggest audience of the day.

Autism feel when you break your Socializing Good streak and are painfully reminded that you do in fact have a social disability, you will never fully overcome it, and you will always unintentionally screw up social situations for your entire life (just with decreasing frequency)

Thatโs strange because Iโm sure in my role as a radio producer at the BBC Iโve heard us play it multiple times a day since December 1st ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ
The BBC has banned 'Fairytale of New York' by The Pogues. Peter Barnes: "I'm offended by the people who are offended on my behalf. I don't need your help." WHAT JUST HAPPENED? https://t.co/tfoZRB95fr

I know Iโm low elo but itโs crazy seeing all these d+ players call secondary rolls like a mini-autofill. How are you so good at the game but can only play one role? I can get by at my elo in at least 3! And Iโm trash!

I keep seeing people talking about the inquiry findings say that lockdowns didnโt stop Covid deaths. But was the purpose not that but to spread cases out over a longer timescale to avoid the NHS being overwhelmed and increasing excess deaths as a result. Show me those graphs!

Amongst all the discussion about the Hitler DNA documentary, I was really disappointed in most of the ways it talked about autism and ADHD. Especially from @Channel4 - a small caveat from SBC at the end won't make the write ups that will get much larger audiences online.

So the Mail didnโt just splice different bits of what @bbcnickrobinson said together. It made up an entirely fictional quote. Will the editor now resign?
This morning @DailyMail admits that it published a statement it claimed I had made when I have never said anything like it. ๐ค

I have the privilege of refereeing ~30 female sports fans most Sundays, often managers and staff are fans too. I donโt think Iโve come across any who speak like this ๐ฌ

NEW: The Prescott memo that led to Tim Davie's downfall included claims of "systemic bias" on the trans issue at the BBC. But a reporter at the heart of the BBC's reporting on the topic disagrees. Story: https://t.co/PL4wpqNDfS

Deborah Cohen says she is not aware of any attempts within corporation to stop or shape her reporting on trans issues
