The problem with the physical exam is that medicine does a terrible job teaching it to trainees, which reinforces the belief that it is not helpful.
In short, the PE should be evidence-based, hypothesis-driven, tailored to the patient, and incorporate judicious use of POCUS.

- Too restrictive w consistency in pts at incr aspiration risk

Only speaking about my own experience as a hospitalist here, but among the last 100 patients I've taken care of, not one was hospitalized because of COVID.
Meanwhile, 2 had prolongation of their hospitalization b/c they were asymptomatically PCR positive, delaying procedures.
