A call to action from everyone I know in the medical field - please can you personally ask hospital shops to stop stocking The Sun. It attacked a woman who has taken her own life, and then pretends to care. And let us not forget the Hillsborough debacle...

As a Dr who works at football events, I know this has hurt everyone who was there and they all want you to find some solace in the fact that your dad, wherever he may be, is so proud of your amazingly dignified response, and that he will always be on that cloud above the cottage!
@hannahmillana
Don't blame yourself. As a reg, I take personal ownership of all actions of a FY1 in their first rotation. You are not to blame for anything.

As a man working in dorset, this could not be more true.

Tomorrow is my 36th birthday. I will be in Addenbrooke’s Hospital working alongside the amazing

staff. I wouldn’t have it any other way, and knowing over 400,000 people are volunteering to join us is the greatest version of a present I could ever ask for!

Great clinical leaders say “how can we get 6 patients out?”, poor leaders say “get 6 patients out”.

That’s the most unscientific observation possible, as it has no research behind it, just personal opinion. Bernard 68 - Google that
@AllisonPearson
Firstly, it is much higher, secondly, it’s the long term comorbidities that we as doctors are worried about. But don’t let facts, doctors or scientists get in the way of your narrative
@MikeWarrington7
You race means nothing to me as a doctor. Why mention it? I don’t, as a doctor, need to see you in person to ask relevant questions and should be seen as more efficient for you due to lack of travel and parking charges. Hope that helps.
Sweet mother of all that is holy… I have just been offered the job of clinical research fellow in trauma surgery at Queen Mary’s University London and The Royal London Hospital - you cannot begin to understand how happy this makes me!

Absolutely. But you try and force people to do something not safe, I’ll defend my team over any arbitrary ‘hospital policy’ (which is just a whim of someone, we all know that)
Collapsing at work. Fucking terrifying. But I need to say, every single member of the

ED department and, especially, George, the ED Reg, we’re absolutely fantastic. I cannot fault them one bit.
@VickiBrindle78
@AkbaniUmair
Not what he said. It is totally understandable that doctors have a greater breadth and depth of knowledge than people who haven't spent 5 years learning at university about it followed by post-graduate examinations and training.

@nosniboRnosaJ
But this isn’t about someone ‘stealing a job’, it’s about how our society has raised people to be lazy and dishonest. I would always choose honest and hardworking, regardless of nationality, than lazy and dishonest. should business owners suffer for our failings as a society?

Amazing. These rays of sunshine in the current world keep me going. Juniors fighting for patients and not just ‘accepting an easy diagnosis’ makes me so proud of the next generation of doctor
@ronansetron
You have a professional responsibility to give a true response, and if anyone comes for you, you have constructive dismissal/bullying against you for telling the truth. Please just say what you professionally believe.
@hkg294
Thank you for speaking out. There needs to be the exact same legal ramifications for the PAs as if my friend stole my prescription pad and prescribed the same thing. If not harsher.
@timricketts_
Lead poisoning - was an off the cuff ‘joke’ then started to think, then found out to be right - the days of knowing medicine pre-surgical Reg… 😂
8 years I have been a surgeon, been on multiple courses which have involved how to scrub properly, yet chopping chillis and then going to the toilet still gets me…
@VishwajeetP4t3l
I had to literally drag the PA title out of someone last week. That’s the issue. I’m a doctor. I don’t know who I’m seeing until I ask ‘which medical school did you go to and what degree do you have’. The obfuscation is amazing to be fair.
To be a doctor is the greatest of honours - you get to serve people in their greatest hour of need. To be scared of getting ill is to lose your edge on illness itself.
We will get you through this, but please stay home to help us as best you can!
And just like that, with a phenomenal medical team, amazing nurses and support staff, and patients who are giving their everything to hang in despite this horrid virus, not a single death last night. I could not be more proud than I was working with everyone last night.

@AVintenAuthor
Because I’ve probably seen over 100 females who ‘know they aren’t pregnant’ prior to theatre or CT, and guess what the pregnancy test showed…? It’s a vital question as if they haven’t taken a test we need to do one.
@VickiBrindle78
@AkbaniUmair
I know, I have worked with many amazing ACPs who are phenomenal. But ACPs cannot fulfill the role of a doctor, and the ones I’ve worked with don’t think they do. They are better than doctors at so many things to be fair, but being a doctor is something very different.
@NatashaAght
@DrMaxxC
Who cares. I’m beyond public perception of doctors now. Pay us what we are worth, we will still be needed. We need to shake this ‘we need to be loved’ attitude.
@thegradmedic
Do your FY1/2 and then decide. Then you have huge earning potential in locum world. If you don't do them, and other options fail, the route back into medicine is very difficult.
Depression is a total and utter shit, but sometimes a little reset is needed and a bigger fight needs to be prepared for, including a little ‘life swivel’. So, onto something totally different but so much bigger than myself!

The ability to read, review and critique a scientific paper are actually a very difficult set skills to do properly without appropriate training. Look up Ben Goldacre on YouTube and see the difference between a professional and what you think a lay person would be able to do

Just a quick one. If you have alcohol-induced chronic pancreatitis, now is not the time to drink a s*&t ton of booze, ED is kinda busy right now. Also, can people stop punching/head butting walls please. PSA complete.
Just heard someone say to their friend who suffers with anxiety ‘what do you have to be anxious about?’ - like asking someone with cancer ‘what do you have to be cancerous about?’ We need to change mental health perspectives!

If you want to say ‘we came 4th but at least he voted for us’, rather than ‘we gave the Tory mob a black eye’, then you are a reason as to why these psychopaths are in office so often, and very juvenile in your approach to politics
