Our national study found that for every one hour with patients, UK resident doctors spend four hours on admin. In @bmj_latest today, we break down why this isn’t just an inconvenience, it’s a safety risk.  1) Fragmented EHRs → endless copy-paste + re-entering data 2) Trainees

Introduced myself in the theatre briefing yesterday; ‘Roshana, Registrar’ Boss interrupted: ‘Roshana, Surgeon. She’s got her CCT now’ Normalise bosses who celebrate you 🥲

I used to live right next to the vice presidents house in Washington DC and the noise from this monstrous absurdity used to wake me pretty much every morning

Clinical examination in orthopaedics is the only thing that really solidifies the diagnosis and the decision of when and how to treat for me as a clinician If we think scans or scores are the answer alone then we’re in real trouble in medicine

Can we normalise actually examining a patient neurologically before calling Neuro for a review? Please and thank you.

The insinuation that resident doctors work part-time to take advantage of locum shifts is ridiculous. Also no mention of impact on career progression/longer in training. Quarter of junior doctors work part-time. https://t.co/7UpnaHfGSh

Asked yesterday about salary and life 🇬🇧🇦🇺 by a media outlet In 🇬🇧, finished training in 2023, having worked in the NHS since 2006, with on-calls in the busiest trauma centre in the UK, took home £4200 a month. Sydney job, with on-calls, took home between £5-7000 a month Now,

Ps I am a lower limb focus so this isn’t about *me* I just cannot believe this is now essentially a prerequisite for a job when we already have the most prerequisites in terms of training possible And why have the society & community allowed this to happen? I’m bewildered

Can you explain something to me Why are we asking Orthopaedic Surgeons, who want to be Hand surgeons, who have already done training AND fellowships… …to also do a hand diploma? Please explain why one of the longest training pathways in the world needs this @BSSHand #ortho

Doctors: You leave clothes on the side of a bench for them inevitably to be pushed onto the floor by someone Belongings, you cart in a rucksack and leave in an unsecure staff room And guess what, loads of stuff gets nicked No office, no locker, nothing. @wesstreeting

It’s estimated Gaza had as much, likely more, explosives dropped on it as Dresden, Hamburg and London in WW2. Little wonder it looks like this. Not filmed with anything fancy, just an iPhone through a window. There’s no avoiding the scale of destruction.

I'm a female CEO & ultimately the decision maker when hiring for high level management & executive positions in the company. I've hired more women for senior positions than men. The simple reason being because men keep ignoring me & talking to my male PA/notetaker in interviews.
