Being in a trade union isn’t really like just having insurance (although you do get that for work issues), it’s much more like joining a gym; you’re not going to get fitter just by paying, you need to put some effort in too in order to get those benefits!

@ruhi_hi I’m an organising and fighting trade unionist working for a trade union on a journey to become an organising and fighting union. Is it perfect? No. Are there frustrations? Plenty. But I get to work in line with my values and with a profession I respect and want to succeed.

The Government has suggested a pay uplift of just 2.5% for doctors next year, well below inflation. With resident doctors set to strike next month over pay and jobs, it is “frankly indefensible that yet another Government is once again suggesting real-terms pay cut for

A 2% real terms pay cut is the real slap in the face. Let alone the tone deaf paragraphs on resident doctors’ employment prospects. There appears to be very little grasp of why we are actively haemorrhaging doctors from the NHS.

Government proposes 2.5% for 2026/27. Lower than all measures of inflation. There’s no two ways about it; it’s a pay cut. Can’t see doctors accepting this. We must now build sustainable workplace power through organising in every medical workplace.✊🏼

@DrHuw @PaulaMc007 @AliveLeder @NHSE_WTE I cannot think of one example where campaigning by individuals on single issues has genuinely resulted in better outcomes. Not infrequently, the wrong issue at system level is addressed (see Martha's + Jess' Rules). Or the intervention isn't cost effective. Or there /

Shocking new figures from the RCN show growing racist abuse against nurses. We stand in solidarity with affected nurses and colleagues across the NHS, and call for an end to the escalating use of hostile language and anti-migrant rhetoric. Read more:

Artificial bottlenecks. Manufactured crisis. Governments for years has pinned the blame on BMA for apparently veto’ing medical expansion despite the BMA not having any power (and also forgetting the point was lack of jobs post training). But here we have it from the horses

@CMO_England with respect- am not sure it says anything that a lot of Residents have been saying for years. Why is this vital work being kicked to the long grass? Is there any timelines to implementation? The greyness around IMGs is not helpful either for many people & their future.

https://t.co/TTAoxWmpQc The MTR essentially tells us what we already know: medical training isn't working. What it doesn't tell us is how the government are going to fix it? Without that, it's just another report which will change nothing.
