Have a hard time believing your kids were shamed. I live in a 90% LDS neighborhood & all the moms made a conscious effort on GroupMe to talk about making sure any Sunday Trick or Treaters would feel welcomed, greeted, & given candy. I’m guessing most areas did the same.

My 13yo son had a bone spur removed from his right throwing elbow in January. Hasn’t played since. He will be back better than ever but today he had his left handed pitching debut. 2 innings, 0 hits, 2k’s left handed on 60’ mound. I cried. He is a determined kid.

Fear. People get scared they are throwing too much so arms are not properly conditioned. Kids go out and max effort every 5 days and then shut it down for the next 5 days then max effort again. Arms don’t get the build up & recovery it needs. It max effort then shutdown. Repeat.

My 13yo son can sit here & call about 75% of the pitches these guys are throwing. His knowledge of hitting/calling games is insane. Calling pitches as a catcher since he was 7 years old has really paid off. Let your youth catchers call games.

I feel like so many kids are on a crash course for UCL tears/Tommy John. You are not too young to start building a body that protects your arm. Start slow & build daily habits that compound over time.
Wearing safety belts increases your odds of survival by 50-80%
We have data that shows an increase of 480% of not having a UCL surgery in baseball players if you can deadlift 2x bw, reverse lunge 1.5x bw, & 13 chin-ups.
We can’t stop these injuries but we can impact the odds.
