What people without little kids donโ€™t understand, is that for those who do have little kids, itโ€™s easier to schedule calls for 8:45pm than 5:30pm. Yes, having kids was our choice. But pandemic wasnโ€™t. Maybe you can compromise so this pandemic does not crush โ€˜parents in scienceโ€™?

This is striking and discouraging. Yes - tenure and hiring committees need to take into account - but Universities should also do more to mitigate disproportionate impact on women's careers. The go-to explanation is improved access to child care options. What are other barriers?

Over the last 6 years, the proportion of 1st author pubs by women have slowly increased, but COVID-19 disruptions have severely and differentially impacted women. Tenure committees MUST be aware of this and take it into account in the future. h/t @drugmonkeyblog @jeremymberg

When I state my opinion on the immune response to SARS-CoV2 -> you're not an MD, you only treat mice, you are not qualified. When a male PhD states the same opinion -> wow, you are a hero & you look like my uncle ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ can you take a selfie? I'm tired of this. #WomenInSTEM
