Pandemic burnout is rampant in academia
Remote working, research delays and childcare obligations are taking their toll on scientists, causing stress and anxiety.
Just got comments from 12 Reviewers on a grant proposal.. that is a new record!. Some really great and positive feedback but unfortunately, grant wasn't funded. Kudos to any grant that can satisfy that number of Reviewers though. This was me going through their comments earlier..
I finally got to catchup with the late Ben Barres’ autobiography- an inspiring read - should be mandatory for all scientists in academia from early career to Dept Chairs...
First time in airport since March 2020 and I forgot how implicitly stressful everything about it is… I definitely will be very selective moving forward & will not be returning to pre-pandemic ways.
However, really looking forward to an in-person conference
