Had great fun writing this perspective on evo-devo of pallial cell types in vertebrates along with @DhananjayHuilg1.Thanks to Darcy Kelly for inviting me! @DukeNeuro @KarolinskaN @KargerPublisher @JBJohnstonClub

Happy to share that our paper on sensory processing in the GPe is now out!🧠 Big congratulations to #MayaKetzef for leading such a great project that I was very happy to be a part of. https://t.co/kIo8TAUa6I

Our work on how the hippocampus processes novelty to form new memories is now published @NatureComms! Using in vivo ephys, virtual reality and modelling, we found a synaptic signal in DG that could work as a switch from recall to new memory formation. 📜:

Nature Communications - Memory formation and recall are complementary processes within the hippocampus. Here the authors demonstrate a synaptic signal of novelty in the hippocampus and provide a...

It should contain supplement "How to not lose your mind when patching super rare population (<0.01%) and Reviewer 2 asks for more pairs of the smallest subpopulation" !

Super happy to share my hours of patching in this final published form! There were moments (or months) of pain but I'm glad I didn't give up
Very happy to share @AnTokarska Ania’s PhD paper, just published @CellReports! We used Chrna2-Cre mice (K Kullander @UU_University) to study striatal interneurons expressing the nicotinic α2 receptor subunit. Inspired by work from @JTep & @Maxime_Assous

Very excited to share our new preprint! Using whole-cell patch-clamp in awake mice, we reveal that sensory responses in the dorsolateral striatum are modulated by motor activity in a dopamine-dependent manner. @RobertodelaTor, Maya Ketzef, @SilberbergGilad
biorxiv.org
The dorsolateral striatum (DLS) receives excitatory inputs from both sensory and motor cortical regions and is involved in sensory and motor functions. In cortical regions, sensory responses are...

Excited to finally see a preliminary result from this trial. First #optogenetics therapy in humans. A long way to go but the safety data on AAV-based gene therapy to deliver an opsin is a critical first step that could open the door for additional trials.

Very honored to have been selected for the new Trailblazers Series in #EJN. Great experience!
First Article in Trailblazers Series is out! Read a review by Maxime Assous: Striatal cholinergic transmission. Focus on nicotinic receptors’ influence in striatal circuits AND his reflections on undertaking a career as a neuroscientist. @maxime_assous

In response to criticism of the lack of any women on the recent @numpy_team paper, the authors have floated a narrative that this is the result of "societal constraints", and meager origins of the project. The truth does not abide. https://t.co/ZZTTn7ChcC 1/
In light of the foregoing discussion on social media after publication of the NumPy paper in Nature and the concerns raised about the state of diversity and inclusion on the NumPy team, we would like to issue the following statement: https://t.co/ijhoYgoQhv 1/7
