New study from our lab! We report a novel pupillary light reflex (PLR) mechanism in lampreys. Direct retino-iridal projections act synergystically with iris intrinsic contraction to achieve the PLR, indicating that PLR was mediated in early vertebrates intrinsically to the eye .
