Excited to share that I’ve stepped into a new role as Chief Operating Officer at
@eigen_labs
Chris Dury our COO for the last 2.5 years (who will remain as an executive advisor) laid out a clear charter for this role: build a machine to take
@sreeramkannan
's ideas to market. I

1/ A year ago today we launched on testnet. There were just seven of us at the time, cramped in my basement, running on fumes (and Red Bull). We had people all over the world staying up late with us too, refreshing, waiting, some more patiently than others.
Excited to share that
@RioRestaking
is joining
@eigen_labs
We started Rio to build a network for Liquid Restaking Tokens. We were inspired by
@sreeramkannan
and his vision AND we saw a market opportunity to build infrastructure for the enterprise and institutional community.
Accelerating Open Innovation: Eigen Labs ∞ Rio Network
Eigen Labs is excited to announce the acquisition of the
@RioRestaking
team to accelerate our mission of creating an open, verifiable cloud.
The Rio team has a combined 75+ years of crypto experience and a proven track
1/ RADAR TURNS TWO!
Things move fast in a startup. In crypto. With multiple products.
These last two years have flown by and I’d like to slow down and thank our community.
Our team's ten favorite crypto movies:
Dude, Where's My Keys
The Decredibles
Ready Player Onecoin
Requiem for a Steem
Node Country for Old Men
How Stellar Got Her Groove Back
There Will Be Bitcoin
The Shilling
DAI Another Day
Shapeshift Redemption
What are yours?
Excited to share I'm officially back in the arena! I got the
@RADARdotTECH
band back together, 50+ of my closest friends, and together, we're building
@RioRestaking
1/ I’m often asked, usually by investors, why we’re building
@RadarRelay
in Colorado. This is rarely asked with curiosity, but instead, like an accusation.
Most of the time I politely wind the meeting down, but that’s not fair to Colorado. It needs to be addressed.
Thrilled to share I’ll be joining
@blockchaincap
as their first Platform hire. I’ll be building out post-investment services from the ground up to support our network of 160+ Founders.
3/ Thank you to our
@RadarRelay
users! We’re seeing more DeFi integrations, more trading, and more users based on the work
@0xProject
is doing around Contract Fillable Liquidity! In fact, just last month we had our best month of volume in over a year!
9/ Gratitude.
I’m proud to be a Radar-er and humbled every day by our team’s vision and grit. Our growth is a direct correlation of the support we’ve gotten from you, our community, and we can’t wait to show you what's next!
DeFi is now home to $YAM, $HAM, $PASTA, $CREAM, $TEND(ies), and (PieDAO)$DOUGH.
Pretty balanced diet. Just need a fruit to finish this pyramid. Hearing rumors about 🍍, so we may get there soon.
What am I missing?
As a hardcore RSS user it pains me to admit that newsletters are quickly becoming more efficient. Platforms like
@revue
and
@SubstackInc
have lowered the barrier to entry and creators all over the world are creating incredible content niches.
My top 20. What am I missing?
🚨 RADAR RELAY RELAUNCH 🚨
Nearly three years ago we launched
@RadarRelay
and planted a flag in the nascent Ethereum dApp frontier of 2017.
At the time, it was just us and a few other explorers pioneering the wild west of wallet to wallet trading.
3/ 12 months and hundreds of user interviews later
@RadarRelay
has served users from over 150 countries trading 525k+ ETH! Here are a few things I’ve learned along the way...
4/ Build the machine.
Our mission of onboarding the world to the token economy is ambitious and mandates we build an enduring multigenerational company. Process is paramount. Do it once, audit it, document it, automate it, move on.
After the recent
@WSJ
article I've been getting a LOT of questions about
@facebook
's blockchain strategy
A few long emails later I decided to open source my findings
7/ Obsess over culture.
Culture is to recruiting as product is to marketing. Find the best candidates for a position, screen on values, and hire for culture. Use rituals and traditions (1o1s, all hands, retreats, etc) to reinforce values, unblock, and call each other out.
8/ Execute.
Companies die from overeating, not starvation. Execution is nothing more than establishing a strategic plan and acting with urgency. It took us nine months to settle on OKRs as our methodology and we’ve never looked back.
6/ Act with conviction.
We live “strong opinions, held loosely.” Decisions start with first principles and follow a rubric: facts, assumptions, options, and conclusion. Shortcut debt is ok if you pay it back quickly. Revisit conclusions often to improve.
5/ Design the category.
Creating a category takes years of education and stewardship to welcome users to the new actions and vocabulary. But, we love it. It’s part of our DNA. Don’t run from the friction, lean in, and use it to your advantage.
4/ Thank you to our
@radar_ion
users! RADAR ION is quickly becoming the homepage of the Lightning Network. You can subscribe to our newsletter, try our guides, contribute to our wiki, and use our BRAND NEW APP STORE LAUNCHING TODAY .
I've been getting a lot of questions on DeFi aggregators, "DeFi prime brokerages," and who the contenders are. Here's a big thread of 25 companies...who am I missing?
2/ We wouldn’t be here without you. You helped
@RadarRelay
grow into a global product with users in 150+ countries, $250m+ traded, and 150+ tokens. You helped us launch
@radar_ion
and we’re building our product roadmap together, one user interview at a time.
Getting a lot of folks asking me how the market downturn is affecting morale and our product roadmap at
@RadarRelay
To be frank, it's thrilling for us
Downturns prune teams and projects without grit, which gives us more opportunity and value to capture
5/ Thank you to the team! For our incident response parties. For teaching me the difference between SLIs, SLOs, and SLAs. For reminding me to tweet. For helping me build a durable culture. For your accountability, vision, and impact.
4/ Our challenge...
We must all, as an industry, as layers in this funnel, reach up.
At
@RadarRelay
, focusing on increasing conversion from wallets is necessary, but not sufficient. Stay tuned.
10/ To build a multigenerational blockchain comp these are mandatory ingredients
-Talent pool with roots in telecom, networking, cybersecurity, and finance
-Research orgs and a govt that is willing to support innovation
-A whole bunch of us pesky millennials starting companies
8/ We build products for our next financial system...and we’re just getting started! Follow
@RadarRelay
or
@radar_ion
to stay tuned for upcoming product releases!
Culture is...
1/ Described through values:
For us, it’s accountability, vision, and impact. Accountability is first, because, how can you embody other values without accountability?
7/ As we look ahead it’s clear we’re in the midst of a transition. We’re evolving from a Product Leadership company (where the focus is on the bleeding edge technology) to a Customer Intimacy company (where the focus is on the customer and their needs).
Minimum Chain Reaction
The engineering pattern that uses the blockchain as a source of truth only when absolutely necessary
For example, Lightning and 0x are powerful because they focus on MCR to decrease the total blockchain surface area exposure for any given application
An entire application refactor later, we’re humming with 5x faster API call response times, batch cancel, and
@Trezor
hardware wallet support. Thanks to all of our users and partners who helped us get here!
Blockchain Flash to Bang Time: the time between the whitepaper launch and the network launch.
And if you're wondering, Dfinity (656 days and counting) and Polkadot (1,068 days and counting) both fit right in!
If your one true chain isn't here, DM me the dates and I'll update!
📈 Instinet Turns 50! 📈
Launched in December of 1969 to compete with the NYSE, Instinet was the FIRST electronic communication network for the anonymous buying and selling of securities. Along the way, they've been responsible for a lot for firsts. Were they the first FinTech?
It's been another wild year on the frontier building products for our next financial system.
We couldn't have done it without you, the extended RADAR family. I am so proud of what we're building together and I can't wait to show you what's next!
@david_perell
Here's mine! I organize by genre and alphabetize. Although, my favorite book collection is
@njess
method of stacking by color around the house!
Dear Crypto Twitter,
I have some questions.
#1
: Are there any directories or lists of Twitter sub-groups for specific crypto tribes? For example, the Ethereum Twitter, Lightning Network Twitter, EOS, etc..
#2
: What are the most active tribes?
1/ Come for the tool, stay for the network
A shrewd adage from
@cdixon
that points to building “single player mode” first to solve the age old chicken and egg problem.
Suppliers arrive after demand gathers via useful, sticky tools. A thriving marketplace ensues.
There are three types of companies...
1. Operational Excellence...this is Walmart and Amazon with their limitless inventory and low prices
2. Customer Intimacy...this is your local Porsche and BMW dealer with their CRMs and annual customer Christmas cards
To understand what’s happening in crypto just look at the scoreboards. Scoreboards create narratives and we all scramble to climb the rankings. In other words, show me the scoreboard and I’ll show you the incentives. A thread of my ten-ish favorites….what am I missing?
This is a special opportunity because I’ve been a BCAP Founder myself! Over the past five years, we went through a full company lifecycle together - seed, scale, pivot, scale, pivot again, acquisition, and even going public.
The Big Five
1.
@zerion
- invest in DeFi from one place
2.
@Instadapp
- powerful DeFi management
3.
@zapper_fi
- manage your DeFi assets and liabilities in one simple place
4.
@Unspentio
- Smart crypto portfolio tools and insights
5.
@DeFiSaver
- One-stop management app for DeFi
7/ We get startups.
Thanks to organizations like
@techstars
and
@RMInnosphere
over the last few years
@KauffmanFDN
and
@CBinsights
have consistently ranked Colorado in the top ten for startup activity and VC investment.
6/ We get research.
We have over 30 federal labs
@ColoradoCOLABS
with an economic impact of $2.6b and 50+ colleges and universities like
@ColoradoStateU
and
@CUBoulder
doing more than $1.5b in sponsored research annually.
It’s a natural fit to formally join the team and do it 160+ more times!
We have big plans. Stay tuned. In the meantime, if you’re a Founder or building something in the space, reach out!
Excited to announce my role as Chief Technology Officer at
@Core_Scientific
!
I'm proud of the work we're doing at Core to build, power, and secure our next financial system.
These teams want to focus on customers, user experience, and marketing. Instead, they're forced to staff up DevOps and build sophisticated tooling just to handle node operations!
This isn't working. These teams are struggling. Customers are suffering. Our industry is stuck
A financial system that is more inclusive, more fair, and a hell of a lot more transparent. One that is built on programmatic trust.
Live in the (near) future with us and trade on RELAY today:
There's a community forming around ILM. It's not clear how it started, but I can see ideas flowing from
@david_perell
,
@eriktorenberg
,
@Alex_Danco
,
@balajis
, and others at warp speed. Meanwhile,
@fortelabs
is working furiously to make sure we collect, catalog, and use them!
3. Product Leadership...this is Apple and Google with their courage for pushing boundaries and cannibalizing their own products
I’m excited to further cement our product leadership with the V2 release of
@RadarRelay
!
🤔 Decisions 🤔
Most industries are really good at "the what" or "the how" of executional work. All this focus on how to do things right often ignores the more important question, are we doing the right things?
Read more here:
A Decade of Crypto Exchanges
In the beginning...there was Bitcoin Market, the first BTC exchange that went live in March of 2010 BTC ($.05). There was a flurry of exchange launches in 2011 and 2012, but Mt. Gox captured most of the volume until it's collapse in early 2014.
5/ We get money.
As the “Wall Street of the West” and the major financial hub between Chicago and LA, Denver has a Federal Reserve branch and one of only six US Mints.
Proud to ship our EIGHTH educational site! This time, we take on Channel Capacity!
We pick new user actions and complex concepts and do our best to break them down into simple terms. What should we explain next?
A thread of what we've made so far...
Backing Intro Trustlessness
The decision to build a product or service with the long term goal of strategically implementing blockchain technology where useful
It’s easier for a paying customer to accept new user actions over time than to frontload friction for new customers
Minimum Chain Reaction
The engineering pattern that uses the blockchain as a source of truth only when absolutely necessary
For example, Lightning and 0x are powerful because they focus on MCR to decrease the total blockchain surface area exposure for any given application
4/ We get military and defense.
We have five major military installations that generate a state economic impact of $6.9m and in the last decade have won over $30b of DoD contracts.
9/ We get government.
Thanks to the foresight of
@ColoradoEcoDevo
we have a thriving grant program providing millions of non-dilutive dollars to startups. We even have a Governor’s Blockchain Council!
Flash forward three years. The wild, untamed Web3 landscape has evolved. Teams are shipping, users are using, and wallet to wallet trading is growing at an astonishing pace!
And to be candid with the community, RELAY has not kept up.
That changes today.
1/ I’m often asked, usually by investors, why we’re building
@RadarRelay
in Colorado. This is rarely asked with curiosity, but instead, like an accusation.
Most of the time I politely wind the meeting down, but that’s not fair to Colorado. It needs to be addressed.
Company Names Thread
I'm often asked how we decided on our name and logo. To be honest, it was quite the journey, and we went through many versions and iterations.
For inspiration, Wikipedia has a useful list: . Here are my favorite 3!
The Riparian Line
Like the zones around rivers that maintain biodiversity and protect against erosion, the RL is the zone around platforms that maintain customer choice and protects against anti-competitive regs. Some rivers, like the Amazon, have an unpredictable floodplain...
3/ Reaching up...
@stripe
's recent product offerings are illustrative. They reached up. They're helping entrepreneurs start companies with
@atlas
. They reached up even further with
@stripepress
to plant the seed for entrepreneurship.
4/ Shared through stories:
For us, it’s the inside jokes, the cringe-worthy mistakes, and the milestone celebrations. Stories are unstoppable. Lean in and use them to attract talent, capital, and customers.
3/ Reinforced through rituals:
For us, it’s speedy standups, comprehensive all hands, and touchy-feely retreats. In a volatile, frontier market these rituals keep us anchored and remind us that company building is a marathon, not a sprint.

The great irony of productivity obsessed people is that every time there's a new tactic / system in the mix (GTD, BaSB, Notion, Roam, etc) we drop what we're doing and investigate. It becomes a bit of a treadmill that contradicts our productivity!

The brain is a factory, not a warehouse. Use tech, paper & pen, or whatever system you want to treat it like a factory and warehouse everything else!
For me, ideas are the raw materials that get stored in the warehouse, which means my factory uses a “just in case” supply chain.
