#BikeSchool
A3: My kid says she loves biking but she only feels safe when she doesn't have to jockey for position among cars. As much as DC says we can value cycling, there are only a dozen miles of protected bike lane in total. (Some okay off-road trails help a little.)
On Aug 12th of this year it marked my 31st year of officially being without what DC calls “people” living inside me. Pff. No one wished me a Happy Birthday… Jerks..
Today, my office is filing a lawsuit against the owner of a crumbling and vacant Ward 6 home for making false claims to the District to avoid paying higher taxes on the property since at least 2015. That’s not acceptable.
Read the complaint:
Looking to
@MayorBowser
for shoveling amnesty for 2019 season. Please make it easier on those that have a hard time getting out the front door. (Mainly because it is 2 pieces of frozen plywood).
Um sorry might have not heard you knock. The plywood doesn’t echo as well as a normal door. Please check with me tomorrow. Thanks and appreciate your eagerness...
Hi,
@RuthAnnANC6A05
, you won me when we elected you! Congrats! 🎉🎊🍾. Please stop by sometime and we can talk shop. There seems to be a mix up with some of my paperwork.
@dcra
thinks I am vacant. But we all know.... I am the party palace.
Looks like I am going to have a visitor soon!!! I like visitors.
@dcra
, Can we just make this an outdoor meeting like in the past. It gets stuffy inside. Take a looksy through my window treatments and be gone. Lift this cloud of conspiracy.
Light repairs take time… and now that I have my permit extended can someone move my downspout out to the left and …..then to the right wash away some of smell of construction on my block. I find it repulsive.
Woah, woah, woah.... let’s not try to make changes or accusations of being vacant. If
@dcra
, the upstanding institution that it has been labeled (by someone), feels they are doing everything possible.... perhaps they are.
Anonymous LLCs and obscure subcontractor company names are where slushy money and influence thrive. End of story. More disclosure is necessary.
@kojoshow
@wcp
The property at 1000 C Street in Northeast is covered in vacant property stickers and plywood. Weeds grow from the roof. No one has lived there for decades. But the city won’t declare it a
#BlightedBuilding
. Neighbors are fed up.
@DCRA
@ODCA_DC
Points for trying I guess but it'd be nice if DCRA actually did its job with more vacant properties. Throwing some paint on a place like
@1000CStNEDC
isn't a solution.
If you can’t read the date then it isn’t enforceable. Hence my tax rate is back to the normal rate.... but there is a fine to take it down so here I am....
As we all look after each other during these difficult times, please clear any snow out front this snow season as we are socially distancing... until April.
Nothing in DC is final until my Dad requests another extension. This isn’t a new permit (which my stop order dictates I can’t have a new Permit). It’s an extension! As a result I am not vacant. Thank you for your good work
@dcra
But this wasn’t my first tax sell. There have been many. They have all landed me in court…. And winning. So if
@AGKarlRacine
thinks he can take down my Papa! Good luck..
Not
@charlesallen
, not
@MurielBowser
can touch me. I am untouchable..... prove me wrong.... but please be sure to water off my shingles during the hot sun...
@theHillisHome
@dcra
@1000CStNEDC
1000 C NE is the most egregious example of how DCRA gets played year after year, but it’s hardly alone. This report from the DC Auditor lays out in excruciating detail how poorly the vacant/blighted program is run:
I have a stop work order issued against me… I am trying trying to keep up with the jones’ but
@dcra
is holding me back. I will be forced to stop all work on internally and externally. Apologies.
Well this is kind of crazy, my security camera picked up a building randomly collapsing today.
The people on the street were walking on the spot 10 seconds earlier! Luckily no one was hurt I don't think.

@wamu885
Woah woah - stay in your lane Marty, no need to look this direction. However if you can figure out who “new guy” over at
@dcra
... Dad needs to grease the wheels that seem to have gotten stuck....
My haters forget dad’s got money in the bank… He isn’t letting one get away…. Dad’s other properties are worth $2.6+, on a bad day. He’ll just pull from that and cover. But alas,
@DC_OTR
will fix my issue of this “misunderstanding”. Don’t you… worry…
Folks on Capitol Hill may care about this:
@AGKarlRacine
is suing the owner of a long vacant home at 1000 C Street NE (which has its own Twitter account,
@1000CStNEDC
) for allegedly making false claims to avoid paying the higher property taxes that come with vacant properties.
Today's Legislative Meeting is now underway:
On the agenda, a second and final vote on
@charlesallen
's Housing Conversion and Eviction Clarification Amendment Act of 2019, which incentives preserving rental units and strengthens tenant protections.
I can’t really answer for my “Dad” but we bought at a good time and now just sit on it waiting for the right time to pounce! It does have a use.. I pull money from the equity and use it for other things. When I get close to paying it off I do it over again.
A high level D.C. government source confirms that three
@dcra
employees were fired just a week after the agency's director Melinda Bolling exited: Dep Director Lori Parris, Chief Admin Ofcr Walter Crawford and Chief Tech Ofcr Kevin Edwards
Well, I believe you answered your own question, I am beloved, don’t we all have a special place in our heart for properties with historical value? I mean... all developers want me... my neighbor want me but alas I am forbidden fruit... grrrr... meow...
Wondering if
@charlesallen
or anyone in
@MayorBowser
’s administration knows why Capitol Hill’s most beloved abandoned property is *still* getting a sweetheart deal on property taxes?
