Extremely interesting read re: comprehension

Reading comp is not a skill someone learns & then apply in different reading contexts. It is one of the most complex activities that we engage in on a regular basis, & our ability to comprehend is dependent upon a wide range of knowledge & skills@CattsHugh https://t.co/FtYPWxyUYj

Great @LitdriveUK Trust Lead Forum this evening. So many things to go away and reflect upon at the end of a busy first half-term in a Trust leadership role. Special thanks to @greeborunner @s_donarski for running the session and sharing their experiences and expertise.

Incredible post from @FunkyPedagogy which summarises the challenges of reading and stresses how VITAL it is for individuals, schools, families, communities... The message? That nothing trumps reading in terms of education and that we need to get real, get serious and get going!

Horrific, mindless destruction. I'm going to run a CPD session in the first week of September and will donate all proceeds to the rebuild effort for Spellow Lane Library Hub. Please share with English teachers - Β£5 per ticket. https://t.co/2ZkZEeR1Zv

Liverpool's Spellow Lane library torched last night. What could be more 'patriotic' than destroying a centre which serves the local community?

Is anyone able to recommend a decent bilingual dictionary for a Farsi speaker new to English? Ideally one with some context for words. I have found a '1:1' dictionary suitable for exams but nothing with more detail... #teamenglish

Reading and Maths A Level. Is wider reading in this subject area useful? Is incorporating written texts and the reading of these into lessons feasible or even desirable? Thoughts please! #maths #reading #literacy
