Honestly the most fun part of my job is building admin tooling. It feels so high-leverage, and you have a tight feedback loop with your end users, who are your colleagues. It's fairly easy to blow their minds with a little bit of UI work lol.

At Airbnb the proliferation of microservices also became an absolute nightmare. But it was more a matter of _how_ we did it, I think — e.g. lack of good tooling, then incentive misalignment with engineers thinking they had to spin up their own service in order to get promoted 🤦🏻♂️

Microsoft owns the stack: GitHub, VS Code, TypeScript, npm. GitHub has released Codespaces. Why in this year 2022 are we still having to write code as plaintext in GitHub PRs? Give me smart indentation, vim mode, syntax highlighting, knowledge of our TypeScript types, etc
