I know Christine Gilbert. She was the Head Teacher of the school where I was Head of English. I have confidence in her integrity and her dedicated professionalism. I await a thorough, evidence based and balanced report into Ofsted’s response to the tragic death of Ruth Perry.
It is hard to meet any of this with unqualified enthusiasm as it smacks rather of the wrong person investigating the wrong questions, precisely to avoid finding out what is really wrong with the system.

Lately most conversations with leaders in NHS, schools, job centres & other frontline services end with a sense they’re being asked to do more than provide their basic service. Teachers are social workers. Doctors are teachers etc. A challenge but, properly coordinated, a huge

As Gareth says ...
National Professional Qualifications will no longer be fully funded by the government from next year. @GarethConyard tells @tes “Any reduction in NPQ funding feels short-sighted, especially in light of the latest recruitment and retention figures.” https://t.co/TaXZTP8IcK

@EmathsUK @GarethConyard @TeacherDevTrust Thank you Mark, this whole journey could never have happened without you. Your suggestion 'why not run a charity' and your guidance, Chairmanship, your support - I don't know where I'd be now without it.

This is one of the reasons I have joined Child Poverty Action Group as a trustee. Impossible to work in education without seeing the terrible impact of poverty on the children and families we serve. Please follow @CPAGUK
Today's poverty stats from the DWP are horrendous. 4.3 million children in relative poverty - the highest ever 3.6 million children in absolute poverty - up 300k 2.2 million children living in "food insecure" households 820k children living in households that use foodbanks

Thanks @juliecmcculloch - loved joining everyone today at #ASCL2024 in Liverpool with @edballs . Fantastic speech by @RealGeoffBarton earlier on and great to see so many school leaders - you’re definitely part of the solution on how Britain moves forward @ASCL_UK
Thoroughly enjoyed talking to @JustineGreening and @edballs at #ASCL2024 today about their time as Education Secretary, and what they think whoever’s next in the hot seat should focus on. A rallying cry for the potential of education to change lives and societies. Thank you both
