One of the worst Leasehold stories we've come across in a very long time and @mtpennycook & @SteveReedMP have failed to acknowledge the article. VERY DISAPPPOINTING - just because you ignore something doesn't make it go away @LeaseholdScandal

@Keir_Starmer can talk all he wants about âserving working peopleâ â but this is the moment that matters. Stand up to Treasury. Stand up to freeholders. Stand up to lawyers hiding behind ECHR technicalities. Deliver reform you promised or admit youâve abandoned us @HarryScoffin
Next week is make-or-break for @UKLabour. Will @Keir_Starmer stand up to vested interests including the Treasury and government lawyers handwringing over ECHR and judicial review to free working people from the extortionate, exploitative leasehold regime? My @LBC interview đ

Precisely. This isn't just about a bill; it's a litmus test of his entire premiership. Either he delivers for working people now, or he confirms the suspicion that this is a continuity-of-caution Labour, beholden to old orthodoxies and bad legal advice.
Imagine this: the last Tory government was more progressive than a self-styled insurgent @UKLabour. @Keir_Starmer has a choice next week: back working people in the Draft Commonhold Bill or give thin gruel, hiding behind a captured Treasury and Lord Hermerâs weird ECHR legalism.

Matthew Wright said it perfectly: how is something so sensible such a brutal fight? Leaseholders arenât asking for luxuries â just an end to an unjust system. Harryâs polling is clear: 70% expect Labour to honour their word. The country is watching who flinches. @FreeLeasehlders

Itâs staggering that a gov elected on ending feudalism is hiding behind Treasury briefings & ECHR gymnastics to deny millions fairness they promised. Harry is right â if monarchy pay peppercorn, why canât ordinary leaseholders? Labour must choose a side next week @FreeLeasehlders

Exactly this. The legal obstacles have fallen away, the public is behind reform, and the injustice is undeniable. The only thing missing is political backbone. Starmer must choose: leadership or learned helplessness. Leaseholders wonât forget. @HarryScoffin
Every excuse has run out. Freeholdersâ legal challenges are crumbling. Public support is overwhelming. Labour has a majority. The only barrier left is political courage. @Keir_Starmer must show it now â or be remembered as the leader who protected feudalism @HarryScoffin

Only if the government does not screw us on the enfranchisement formula by setting deferment and capitalisation rates lower than the current position! This is a highly technical area that barely anyone in the media covers and where lots of the industry lobbying is happening.
@HarryScoffin @UKLabour @Keir_Starmer @LBC For example, if they enact the 0.1% ground rent cap on lease renewals (with freeholders covering their own legal costs), we will have massively less problems than we have now.

At a critical moment for leaseholder liberation, the head of self-styled leaseholder charity LKP, close to government, is muddying the waters, trash-talking commonhold and glorifying freehold tycoon Vincent Tchenguiz over ordinary people. What are they playing at?!
Very interesting meeting last night at UCL Law faculty on commonhold with Prof Nick Hopkins, the ex-Law Commissioner of the leasehold and commonhold reforms, @martinboydLKP and leasehold / commonhold specialist solicitor Mari Knowles. Good to hear Nick's thinking on how to

No hiding place for Labour now. Who do they back? The Cayman Island cartel and their freehold extortion, or ordinary leaseholders? You are right Harry, Keir Starmer's choice will define him.

Powerful forces want me out of the picture. But I keep going to the media, fighting for myself, my family, my neighbours, and millions of leaseholders as if itâs the last time I ever can. Next week, @UKLabour must choose the people over the leasehold grifters.

@BBCNews You could help this person @SteveReedMP @mhclg @TPOmb but you wonât. And thatâs why the leasehold system has failed. A disgrace. Itâs shouldnât be like this for people. @LKPleasehold @FreeLeasehlders @NLC_2019 @HorNet_Group

Horrendous story. The @UKLabour Govt could have acted 18 months ago to protect leaseholders. They chose not to. @SteveReedMP remains firmly on the side of freeholders.

And here is a Starmer aide, speaking to the Guardian in Nov 2024: âKeir wanted it to happen. Itâs that simple.â
@ddhitchens @kimleadbeater @thetimes I understand Kim was approached by the Whips with the usual handout bills - chose the puppy farming bill - then a subsequent approach was made for this Bill, NOT on the handout list, which the govt had done no work on, but Starmer personally wanted. It stinks.

Itâs clear why Harryâs voice resonates: he hasnât been captured by political convenience. In a landscape where some campaign groups lose their bite, Harry continues to challenge power rather than echo it. That courage is exactly what this movement needs. @FreeLeasehlders
What strikes me most is how rare genuine campaigners like Harry have become. So many groups drift too close to government and lose their edge, but Harry stays fiercely independent. Thatâs why his voice matters â he speaks for leaseholders, not for the system. @FreeLeasehlders

Phenomenal. The respect between Harry & Lord Gove is obvious & the shared commitment to justice for leaseholders shines through. Hearing former minister speak so plainly about entrenched interests gives real hope. Keep going, Harry â your work genuinely matters @FreeLeasehlders
If anyone knows how to take on the Blob, itâs this man. Whatever your politics, @michaelgove has a reputation for ramming change through the Whitehall machine. Starmerâs @UKLabour are meant to be an âinsurgent government of deliveryâ. So, what does Lord Gove think?

Outstanding interview Harry. Right on the money with the issues we face and as ever, Gove gets it. Your campaign work is incisive and has never compromised or been co-opted by the establishment.
âThe ECHR is to protect the vulnerable, ideally, against an abuse of power, but what weâve got here is the powerful abusing the vulnerable.â @michaelgove makes the pro-leaseholder case for leaving the ECHR. And more! All in our new podcast, Generation Screwed đ
