Can I ask you @Keir_Starmer what is the point of facial recognition when Muslim women are free to walk the streets with their face covered? Should it not be banned. Two-tier Britain?

@colonelhogans We don't need to be feminist to do all those things; we do it because we have to, and it doesn't end when you become a grandparent, either.

Women are 51% of the population but 60% of the poor and 83% of single parents doing 66% of the work producing 50% of the food but earn just 11% of the pay and own only 20% of the land All while giving birth to 100% of the population. In case you wondered why we still need

Your regular reminder that shared owners are advised by housing associations to select solicitors from their panel. My L&Q-approved solicitor did not even mention ground rent in the report on title. ❌

The leasehold scandal is a really nasty aspect of the housing crisis, where complex legal contracts, which those who bought impacted homes often didn't understand and weren't advised properly on, have ruined people's lives

Is Matthew Pennycook just trolling us? People don't want a 'regulated' version of whatever dubious outfit is ripping them off. They want to get rid of them from their lives altogether. What has he said to the developers like Vistry and Redrow who choose to look the other way

There will be no lending on those flats unless the Govt decides to sort the ground rent issue. If @mtpennycook & @SteveReedMP know that - and I hope they do - then a failure to cap ground rents would be a political choice to condemn thousands of people to distressed sales.

Yes. But it's not just doubling ground rent clauses that are onerous. RPI-linked clauses are also deemed onerous. And if your ground rent is over 0.1% of property value, that too is deemed onerous. This disproportionately impacts smaller flats that FTBs used to buy.

This is because of "onerous" doubling ground rent clauses. It has made homes impossible to sell - particularly affecting new flats - and, as expert housing market analyst Neal Hudson has told me, is one of the reasons why flats are just simply not selling...

“We”, “strengthen”, “regulation” “expect to see” This does not sound like a minister in charge, but one that has been told to dilute. Pathetic. Just pathetic. Vote these 🤡 out of office.

Absolutely no good trying to strengthen the regulation of managing agents, and then actually expect them to adhere to new legislation. Leaseholders must have the ability to sack crooked or underperforming agents. Only then will they at least start performing to expectations.

No one chooses a FirstPort, Rendall and Ritner, RMG, Greenbelt, LivingCity... They are thrust upon innocent people by developers and freeholders. Why isn't Matthew Pennycook focussing on autonomy, dignity, choice, financial control, justice?

I hope they will get on with it and learn their lesson from having custom parts in the #lifts. As many standard parts as possible should be used, these lifts have a high usage and parts can wear out, so thought should be put into future maintainability.

The #CladdingScandal has exposed how bad SO is. Normally people would sell & move on after a few years, shit work, delays, escalating costs would go unnoticed really. Because people are trapped & can’t move we see every lie, broken promise, rising cost and plot to gaslight us.

Are @UKLabour governing on a bet?? It’s like: try as hard as you can to copy the Tories and see if anyone notices. This will be the last ever Labour government. If that’s what we’re calling this.

We called it! After having just beaten the freeholder lobby in a High Court judicial review, @UKLabour is throwing away the tournament on leasehold abolition by abadoning ground rent reduction. The self-styled government for working people is about to stab them in the back.

Peppercorning ground rents is the stake any govt serious about ending leasehold would drive through its vampiric freeholders to kill off the evil system for good. Yet after pushing peppercorn in opposition, @UKLabour has U-turned in power. Now too weak even to impose a £250 cap!

We warned in our last two videos that a betrayal of leaseholders was coming. We were attacked for saying so. But it is happening. While @mtpennycook pushed for peppercorn in opposition, now @UKLabour are in power we’re unlikely to get even a £250 cap. For working people?!

As a Labour member, leasehold abolition campaigner & a member of several Labour housing groups - I implore the government not to back down on leasehold abolition. It is possibly the single biggest thing that we can do in this parliament. Don’t capitulate to big freeholders -
