We continue to lobby for a truly accessible and fully staffed railway and have previously raised concerns with the reliance on lifts to make stations accessible. These recent figures on faults highlight a worrying trend across the railway.
Latest stats show lift reliability at mainline stations in Great Britain deteriorated in the latest year (Apr 2024 to Mar 2025). The total number of faults increased 9%. Faults that put a lift out of service for a week or more increased by 41%. 📉➡

Last week the ORR convened a round table of senior leaders from across the industry alongside us and other rail unions to discuss welfare facilities for workers. This in part is a result of our Dignity for Drivers Campaign 1/2.

Connor is right that capacity for rail freight is a key aspect of HS2. 90% of the economic benefits of rail freight are felt outside of London and the South East. HS2 in full would allow this to grow even further.
Perfect example of why Nigel would be a disaster for this country and a disaster for Crewe and Nantwich as PM. The primary purpose of HS2 is to create capacity for freight and passenger services. Speak to anyone from the industry and they will tell you this is crucial.
