The CBI and Tory and Lib Dem Lords’ opposition to day one protection from unfair dismissal is disgraceful. But the Employment Rights Bill will still be the biggest uplift in workers’ rights in decades. We’ll continue fighting for comprehensive day one rights for every worker.

This is what supporting the longest strike of directly employed staff in the @NHSuk history means 👇. 236 days of action. For £1 you can support the @unisontheunion / @UNISONSW Gloucester Phlebotomists. Show you give a PHLEB here: https://t.co/RnRFx1PXJj

Incredibly welcome to see @RachelReevesMP announce in the #Budget2026 that the Tories' grotesque two-child benefit cap will be scrapped. This will mean almost half a million fewer children in poverty by 2030.

🚨 NEW: Rail fares will be frozen for the first time in 30 years. ASLEF has long been campaigning against transport poverty. This is the right decision, at the right time, to help passengers be able to afford to make the journeys they need to take. 👏 @Heidi_Labour

1 in 10 women will be diagnosed with depression. There’s probably a similar statistic for men... but we don’t have it. Stigmas stop many men disclosing symptoms or seeking help. It’s Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month. If you need to talk, call Samaritans on 0330 094 5717.

On #TransDayOfRemembrance we remember those who've tragically lost their lives at the hands of transphobic violence. @TGEUorg reports a rise in murders of trans activists in the last year. Trans rights are trade union rights. Attacks on those rights are a fight for us all.

It's good to see the rail industry taking long overdue steps to improve welfare facilities for staff in response to our #DignityForDrivers report. We'll make sure that every train driver has access to a toilet. #WorldToiletDay
On #worldtoiletday, ORR's Richard Hines and @RSSB_rail's Sally Griffiths talk about the work being done to improve welfare facilities for rail workers. Listen to the podcast: https://t.co/16n0jnDy3a Read Richard’s blog: https://t.co/4nHKEwoVmo

The Railways Bill is a historic move to bring Britain's railways back into public hands. The next step must be to end the ROSCO rip-off. PFI is bad value and bad business – the government should use alternative investment opportunities like Green Bonds so we own our own trains.
🚨Watch Dr Grace Brown explaining the ROSCO rip-off. 🤑Private rolling stock companies extracted at least £410 million in profits in 2023, and at least £360 million a year for the last decade. The new Rail Bill means the ROSCO gravy train keeps rolling, extracting huge profits

Always a pleasure to have @ASLEFunion comrades in Parliament today — inspiring to hear from their brilliant reps. Powerful speeches from the Equalities Committee Chairs, and I’m proud to support their #RailFreightFuture campaign.

Good to join @ASLEFunion in Parliament today to thank train drivers & train staff. Once again in recent days we have seen the vital importance of skilled train crew. Public service comes in many forms.

We welcome the Railways Bill laid before Parliament this afternoon that will establish Great British Railways. After three decades of campaigning, this Bill will finally do away with the ponzi scheme of privatisation and help give passengers and staff the railway we deserve.

Research conducted by academics at Glasgow University and commissioned by ASLEF lays bare Scotland's ROSCO rip-off – and sets out how Green Bonds can leverage Scotland’s borrowing powers to secure lower-cost, sustainable investment. ➡️

Today ScotRail has started procurement of a new suburban train fleet. This is a fantastic opportunity to end the failed private model of PFI and rolling stock companies. Instead the Scottish Government should issue Green Bonds to fund new stock and save passengers money.
