@kasratweets
Hosting stuff and having that be the reason / object of convo is probably key to this!
Wonder if there's other "excuses" you've successfully used to maintain relationships and increase touchpoints?
What
@dfinzer
@xanderatallah
and team have built is incredible, and NFTs in general - across multiple use cases - are IMO what takes crypto to a 1B+ users.
Excited to play a part and FINALLY be full-time crypto after dabbling for years 🚀
(And ofc justify recent purchases...)
Where are these “insane” DeFi yields even coming from??
It’s a bizarre world so wrote a piece on 4 sources of DeFi yield (Part 1) and my 2c on what underpins the ecosystem as a whole (upcoming part 2)!
The two features my amazing team and I have been grinding on for the last few months is finally announced - verify your Uber rides using PIN and Ultrasound tech!!
Introducing Verify Your Ride with PIN — a new safety feature we're launching soon. Here's how it works:
1️⃣Riders will receive a unique 4-digit PIN for their ride in the app
2️⃣Rider shares PIN with driver
3️⃣The trip only begins in the app once the driver enters the correct PIN
GPT releases seem to be generating similar excitement as the launch of new iPhones in the past.
Everyone is curious what it can do, trying to get early access, paying upfront. It's fun seeing a software product generate this type of buzz.
Huge congrats to
@brextonpham
@daniel_lai_
and the entire Series team on this announcement & official launch!
This was anything but a straight line journey over the last few years -- shoutout to their persistence and resilience through all the ups and downs
1/ Today,
@seriesfinancial
is announcing our modern, flexible ERP-alternative called an Enterprise Operating System (EOS) to automate finance & operations stacks for businesses to save them time and money, as well as our 25m in funding.
@MsKellyMHayes
One of the most important questions I was taught to ask before holding a strong opinion - “what information or data do I need to change my mind?”. Helps you find a way out
This is something that a lot of people miss and happened to me too in my (other) accounts
NFTs bring social status - not unlike Gucci, Rolex clubs, people wearing tech shirts, etc. Just digitally.
Everyone is just trying to be part of something bigger than themselves
💥New Essay - Why DeFi is NOT a Ponzi Scheme💥
**Even though it can look like one and some parts definitely are** Continuing to think out loud about what's underpinning DeFi!
Incredible display of journalism and a chilling watch - had no idea the extent of this
Well done by
@IsobelYeung
and the entire
@vicenews
team to get this out there
SO SO EXCITED for
@PranabKrishnan
,
@KirtiShenoy
and the rest of the Zeal team.
They are some of the most customer-centric and genuine founders I know, and tackling a really important space from a first-principles way.
Incredible to see the progress and what's next 🚀🚀🚀🥳🥳
1/ Today is an exciting day for us. We’ve raised a $13M Series A led by
@sparkcapital
.
We’re using the funding to help our partners build the best payroll experiences possible, by continuing to invest in our team and building out our infrastructure.
From elementary school to just graduating college, I've had >102 classroom teachers/professors. Super thankful and grateful to each and every one of them for teaching me and shaping who I am today 🙏
the story of
@constitutiondao
is crazy through and through
but what's happening right now is insane: a market has formed for $people tokens and its trading at 33x its initial fixed price... and yet ppl are still redeeming their tokens (accepting a refund) for the initial price
Been real fun watching
@levie
be truth seeking about crypto - publicly willing to re-think assumptions from first principles and gather new info
Doesn't hurt that it feeds into my confirmation bias already though 😂
And on crypto itself
The nihilist says crypto is dead, the cynic says it’s a ponzi, but the pragmatist knows there is plenty to be optimistic about, and also a lot more work to do
Onwards - I believe we’re on the right side of history, and we’ll have a lot of fun in the process
Is anyone building a Futures Market for ETH gas fees?
I.e. Let me lock in a gas price today (with a premium) to avoid volatility in the future (ideally all decentralized)
Underrated tech unlock
@friendtech
used -- Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) have always existed but only in Feb '23 could you use them to send NATIVE push notifications
Notifications necessary for habit formation. PWAs now feel the best way to build a crypto mobile product h/t
As I got to know
@stefancoh
@alexhevans
and the rest of the BCC team, I was deeply impressed by the curiosity, kindness, rigor, and conviction they bring to their relationships and thinking of the space
Thrilled and grateful to be working & learning with such a thoughtful team
The cool part about this is we both had to invent a new fiat <> crypto smart contract Fund Flow to purchase the NFT *directly* as a digital good.
The first of its kind in the industry. Now deployed at scale. Shoutout to the whole team for making it happen 🙌🙌🙌
I hope that some of the play-to-earn games that take off find a way to really infuse human creativity & dynamism (ex Minecraft, Roblox, etc.)
Otherwise they risk being just slot machines
Really cool demo of the latest & greatest crypto UI/UX — password-less, seed-less, cheap txns on an L2, AA to have gas paid for, all still (relatively) secure & decentralized. Using passkeys is a really nice touch and I hope they get adopted more as an auth solution.
Still some
1/ 🌎 DeFi for the world is here! 🔥
We’re proud to present to you an interactive demo of what we believe is the future of DeFi UX.
DeFi shouldn’t just be for the niche DeFi enthusiasts. It’s for everyone. It’s for the world.
Holy crap AirPods 🤯
This is from 2019 (60M units), expected to do 82M units in 2020. At ~$200 average price across versions that's $16B in rev growing 30+% yoy
Catching up on ERC-6551 and its so freaking cool
It lets NFTs have their own wallets ("token bound account") that can own other NFTs, erc20s, etc.
For example, this
@stapleverse
Sapienz NFT owns a Doodle, Azuki, Moonbird:
Some of my old & raw thinking (2017) around crypto, art, AI.
Some right, some wrong. But it got my wheels turning originally, and more relevant today given genai.
TL;DR machine & human generated pieces need a unique origin story / provenance that crypto can help guarantee.
Richie Bros is a $10B public company that auctions off used construction equipment (1.7B in revenue)
And this is what the site looks like. Kind of crazy the businesses that exist out there
Also I may or may not be tryna buy a crane now
A great day to launch

Feel like VR’s growth in 2020 is not talked about enough:
-$1.8B of VR content sales
-60+ oculus games with 1M+ in sales
-6.4M VR headsets sold
-1 in 50 Steam users have VR headsets
Still early but interesting trajectory 👀….
One way to look at crypto - Financial market for executing computation
It’s as if AWS or GCP competed (and were paid) to execute every action you took on the web. And maybe one day the market will be so efficient they’ll pay you for the privilege
I'll continue to be spending most of my time in NYC & SF -- hmu if building something cool, need a whiteboard partner, thinking of a new role, or just want to reconnect!
Netflix is not going to stop till every sport has its own multi-season dramatic tv show are they?
Spikeball, pickleball, uno. No sport is safe anymore.
Wrote a quick post on some Misunderstandings of Diversification -
TL;DR - risky bets actually help, there are diminishing returns, and excessive differentiation causes one to lose edge
Huge inspiration was
@laserlikemike
's old post on the topic!
Introducing Seaport, a brand new web3 marketplace protocol for safely and efficiently buying and selling NFTs.
With an emphasis on flexibility and optimizations, Seaport has been built to support new and evolving use-cases for where NFTs are heading.
Building extraordinary companies and protocols - as someone who has both tried and seen up close - is difficult beyond words.
It’s a privilege to be allowed to join a founder’s journey. And one I don't intend to take lightly for the teams I have the opportunity to work with
What are some *tech* inflection points / new platforms in climate tech that I might be missing?
They seem more obvious for other new sectors? Ex:
-crypto = smart contracts/distributed consensus
-space = lower $/kg
-synthetic bio = crispr
Clever experiment by

I love high quality reviews / photos, and it makes a marketplace stronger and more trusted. Surprised others in diff industries don’t try this too
Stayed up last night reading the book
#WhyWeSleep
by M. Walker (
@sleepdiplomat
). Speaks to (1) the high quality of the book and (2) my inability to follow directions
Such a great read - both the technical components and the storytelling itself 👏👏
NFT drops are so challenging & stressful, and behind-the-scene stories like this really capture the craziness
it took some time, but here it is at last: six thousand words on the saga of the

on learning solidity for the first time, on designing an erc-721 contract, on encountering a fatal bug and having to start anew
Just because a lot of people are doing something, doesn’t make that something *dramatically* easier.
Ex) Like this classic crowded Everest picture. Just because a lot of people are climbing Everest, doesn’t make “climbing Everest” that much easier. It’s still freaking Everest!

Freedom is a blessing and a curse
I was surprised to find that when I’m most engaged is when I get most done - mainly by realizing what’s ACTUALLY more important / pulling my curiosity and being fine just doing that

Ironically similar experience and conclusion
(though I really like
@matdryhurst
's articulation that whats special is the song/artist we all know and can share with others)
My latest music lineup has three AI generated songs:
Winters cold (Drake), Heart on my sleeve (Drake), Por Que (Bad Bunny x Rihanna)
Generated AI feeds feel inevitable. But for the short term, I think they’ll still be tied to a human artist (if not for vocals at least for the

for an hour to talk about through my cities metaphor for understanding scaling:
Ethereum => NYC 🇺🇸
App-specific blockchains => Mining towns ⛏️
L2s => Skyscrapers 🏗️
L1s => New cities 🏙️
-Kraft Heinz spends $1.4B on advertising
-P&G spends $7.32B
-CPG ad spend as a whole is $26.7B
Basically Instacart is going to become a (high-margin) ads co and that explains all the FB poaching.
$UBER/ $DASH may go same route (but restaurant ad spend is only 4-5B 😕)
One really cool aspect of
@AspynPalatnick
's project (besides the real time updating of Moons) is on-chain mint referral
Seems like a natural evolution for NFTs given just how popular referrals / affiliate programs are in web2 marketing
Non-Fungible Moons was created to explore what digital art can do that traditional art can not do
On the surface, Moons are NFTs that mirror the phase of the real world moon
Generative, on-chain, dynamic, composable + more. Let's dig in:

I loved using the Vision Pro and think it’s the future blah blah blah
But after the 30 min Apple demo I had a bad eye strain and headache too. The motion blurriness + darkness really was noticeable and detracting for me
TECH: The Verge reports that there has been 'an uptick on social media of Vision Pro owners saying they’re returning their $3,500 headsets' with people saying Apple's headset 'gives them headaches and triggers motion sickness'.
We remain committed to our partnership with OpenAI and have confidence in our product roadmap, our ability to continue to innovate with everything we announced at Microsoft Ignite, and in continuing to support our customers and partners. We look forward to getting to know Emmett
From Google's blog - "90 percent of Google+ user sessions are less than five seconds". I'd say let's have a moment of silence for Google+, but that is clearly too generous

Some of my favorite books are "young adult fiction" (HP, pendragon, eragon, percy jackson, etc). They exist for a reason - opening up the imagination without the jaded-ness of some adult books. Also much later you just bond with everyone about it :)

No one else found it funny. RIP.
“We are also seeing new NFT behaviors emerge…In some settings, low/no-cost minting is gradually becoming a new social primitive akin to a “like” or a “repost””
NFTs went through a significant bubble and (like much of crypto) became a stigmatized term
but as we enter 2024, it’s clear that:
1. digital art and collectibles aren’t going anywhere
2. NFTs are as flexible as ever and poised to permeate more and more of our digital lives
@NTmoney
@davidjhlee
and I were literally just chatting about this.
Eventually, but feel onboarding (at least on L1) is still frictionful/expensive and need something great and easy to understand on other side to justify it

@ImNotJK
Been curious and digging into this topic too; another data point I ran from a large FB group of temp restaurant staffing.
My 2c is it's more of a symptom of underpayment/bad match quality to begin
