Yes, big market is essential to any business success, in 2007 Steve's goal for 2008 is 1% (which is 10 M phones ) he got 11 millions instead , he mentioned why he picked the phones, guess what (Huge market) .
Also in the slides , he started with mp3 market which also smaller.

Figma made a product that is 20x better compared to their best alternative. Because they made something very sophisticated, they waited, in comparison, most startups don't do as much as they did (most startups make marginal improvements). So no need to wait!
