@DavidZipper
Two things - Start by closing the “light truck” fuel economy classification loophole and watch how quickly automakers start shrinking trucks and SUV’s.
Then lower the vehicle weight requirement for needing a CDL, make it say 6000lbs GVWR and you’ll effectively put a crimp on how
@cstanley
CrowdStrike committed an own-goal, striking a crowd of global companies all at once. Just imagine if their update instead silently introduced backdoor functionality to a malicious actor that then ransomware’ed everyone 🫥
It finally happened to me, a zero disengagement & zero intervention drive, in Michigan, in the rain, early morning on
@Tesla
FSD (Supervised) v12.3.3 AND I got it on camera 🤯
This is going to disrupt a lot of transportation related things 🤔
@niccruzpatane
What is wrong with humanity?
It looks like he ripped the J adapter right out of the Tesla’s charge port, potentially causing damage.
I probably would inspect the charging port for damage and file a police report if damaged, else end his charging session.
@0FJAKE
It’s a smart idea for building high performing teams when working on product development. It tends to not work for everyone, especially for folks wanting to have a family.
@farzyness
This sounds like an echo of what I’m thinking in my head.
I can’t shake the feeling that legacy auto pulling back their EV plans yielding excess battery cell supply for Tesla’s benefit to produce lower cost vehicles, that legacy auto just sealed their fate (☠️).
@TeslaBoomerMama
@Tesla
@elonmusk
You deserve an automatic invite to the shareholder event in June, heck of an effort getting the word out to vote and all of the organizing around it!
@herbertong
This sort of list reinforces the need for Elon, insiders, & retail to own a larger share of the company. Tesla the company is doing great, $TSLA the stock is getting beat down by folks that don’t understand the company culture and are making irrational selling decisions based on
@alex_avoigt
There’s more to it than just having a giant casting machine to replace a bunch of small parts. The metallurgy aspect to what Tesla is doing with castings is often overlooked. Then there is the labor argument to be had when unions find out jobs will be eliminated.
@PinkProfit
A Tesla with FSD v12.
I firmly believe anyone who hasn’t spent at least an hour of seat time with the technology is unqualified to say otherwise.
@MrTeslaTom
Yup, swipe to buy a Tesla, a few days later (maybe even hours if inventory is available) it shows up in your driveway, all on its own.
The same will occur for service - you swipe in the app and the car drives off to get new windshield glass, new springs/struts/etc.
Then, the
@WholeMarsBlog
The last bit of your last sentence, is still not widely acknowledged, and even an uncomfortable truth when talking with car people: “legacy auto is still losing money on every EV they make”
@dictionaryhill
I think your family is still stuck in the MSM influence sphere, where everything new is bad and change is hard to deal with. You are not alone 😔
@GuyDealership
My first mortage payment was less than $1200/mo, and that was 9 years ago. Numbers like this suggest to me that folks will adopt TAAS (transportation as a service) as soon as they can reliably get a robotaxi wherever they need to go within 5 minutes of requesting one.
@itskyleconner
@RateYourCharge
I feel like folks beyond myself were hoping Ford would do this. Now it’s just a matter of time for the rest of the industry to fall in line. Is this the beginning of CCS becoming the next Chademo?
@wintonARK
You didn’t even mention one of my favorite Tesla features - walk away door locks! I nearly always forget to lock the doors when I have to drive a non-Tesla.
@GuyDealership
The only place these sorts of automotive subscriptions are likely to work is in net-new features. Tesla’s FSD is a perfect example of something that will work as a subscription, heated seats and acceleration boosts are more likely to piss off owners.
@WholeMarsBlog
This is one of 3 reasons I made the decision to buy Model Y instead of R1S 3 years ago. I hope Rivian makes it to profitability, we need more than Tesla as the only North American EV maker in the future.
@itskyleconner
EA really needs a site design and power sharing capability like Tesla’s v3 Superchargers - a good amount of power that can be incrementally shared amongst a dozen or so more outputs. 4 post sites are not cutting it.
@Perpetualmaniac
@stillgray
Also could have tested this on a handful of machines before pushing it out to the world 🤷♂️
Appreciate the diagnosis, I haven’t looked at C++ code since my college years.
@WholeMarsBlog
The reality that no one, literally no one else is even in the same ballpark on solving generalized autonomy, should be a giant turkey slap to the face of any investor to buy $TSLA now, before it does 5x or more.
When I think about what it’s going to take for any competitor to do
@DillonLoomis22
So we know Tesla doesn’t have unions at its assembly plants, does Honda/Acura/VW at their assembly plants?
I’m wondering how much unions are crippling Detroit auto into forcing global production solutions?
@SawyerMerritt
Jim is the best CEO at a legacy brand IMO, I hope he has the full support of the board and Ford family because the road ahead for Ford looks brutal.
@itskyleconner
Having just done a road trip this past weekend, I’ve come to the conclusion the longest I want to drive between stops is ~2 hours or 150ish miles. Give me lightning fast recharging and charging points everywhere.
@WholeMarsBlog
In the world that NHTSA lives in, they would issue a recall to force drivers to pay attention to the road when FSD is fully autonomous and Tesla takes liability for any accidents.
@dinkin_flickaa
1) I would like a saved playlist function, so I can queue up a bunch of videos to background listen to while doing other things.
2) I would like to watch videos and background them to continue using X on mobile.
@DirtyTesLa
I used 82% of the battery in my 2022 Y doing 202 miles yesterday. Spent about 5 hours parked with sentry mode on, averaged 57.4mph and much of the expressway driving was ~75mph. IMO we need EVs that can do 350+ miles at 75mph or 300mi at 80mph.
@SawyerMerritt
@Tesla
Other automakers have yet to pass the “produce high volume EV profitably” test yet, so there is zero point in them putting capital to work on other initiatives until then
@WholeMarsBlog

@brandenflasch
I’ve said before that Tesla should offer “AutoPark at a Supercharger” in the free features included on every vehicle, it would be one small gateway drug to opening up more folks to FSD. Might even convince a few non-Tesla drivers to switch if it works super well.
@Hilbe
@Rivian
Pretty much every comparable metric the Model Y is better than the Mach-e: range, price, cargo volume, charging speed, seating options, efficiency, etc.
Now R1S vs Model X: well the Model X has FSD while R1S has more volume for passengers and cargo. Today many will choose R1S,
@garyblack00
My suspicion is they are pricing them higher than other similar market segment vehicles to suppress demand, either to limit $$$ losses per vehicle or because they don’t have the raw materials to make them at scale - could be a combination of both.
@itskyleconner
That would be neat to see, you could calculate the cost per kWh & conversion efficiency - does it beat just driving a diesel truck in fuel cost per mile (cost of generator and DCFC charger subtracted)? Or what the operating cost of providing mobile charging as a service could be.
@itskyleconner
I always wonder how many folks are Supercharging because they don’t have home charging, vs road tripping and need to make it to the next stop.
@brandenflasch
This is why I say we need 100x (or more) the amount of L2 charging, at destinations everywhere.
More range would be great, but vastly more charging options even better IMO.
@Jordan_Schiefer
@itskyleconner
So thats how you double the range of a Rivian while towing… you just tow one and swap trucks when the first runs out /s 🤣
@DrKnowItAll16
What can legacy auto do you ask? Advertise and lie to customers about how good their products really are, because if word gets out they are rubbish, they won’t sell another one.
@shefska
We don’t have the money to bail these guys out again. Times are a changing and it’s time to move on with new automakers and are building the future, not those that are still building the past.
@DillonLoomis22
Zooming out on the chart makes this trend clear. The debate in my head is, do I hold my every 2-weeks DCA buys until this pullback? What if the pullback low is still higher than we are currently?
Might as well keep DCA’ing and not care at a…
@WholeMarsBlog
I think Tesla will get there with HW3, I’m just not sure if it will ever be “all conditions” without a camera washer or wiper on at least the rear camera.
@farzyness
@EFarraro
The best Apple products to come out since the iPhone have been, in my opinion, the Apple Watch & AirPods (pick your favorite version). Close is the Apple Silicon powering all of their devices, specifically the Macs, but that isn’t a standalone product like the Mac itself is.
@CernBasher
I’ve long told family that it will be insurance economics that will finally eliminate motor vehicle injuries and fatalities. Once an AI powered solution can generally drive people from anywhere to anywhere, that will force insurance companies to raise rates to the point that only
@itskyleconner
I’m a fan of building smart tech that reads license plates and bills automatic idle fees to drivers if they are plugged in or not. Integrate it with paying for parking and folks will stop ICE’ing chargers.
We already have the latter part at garages in Detroit.
@garyblack00
After sleeping on it and thinking about the pricing strategy a bit more, it makes a ton of sense to come in as high as they did, and it is in line with prior vehicle launches. It probably hits just the necessary price points to satisfy demand for the next 1-2 years. At that time,
@MatchasmMatt
I bought more shares on the dip down, though not as much as I would have liked to buy (need more funds). My personal sentiment is we might not see opportunities to buy sub-$160 anymore.
@SawyerMerritt
Insurance wipes out a good chunk of fuel savings for Tesla drivers in Michigan. Anything that brings insurance costs in line with ICE cars is a good thing for drivers.
@brandenflasch
Every hotel needs to be installing 10+ 48A chargers in 2024. Hotels with 2 and sometimes 4 doesn’t cut it today, EV drivers are almost better off DCFC to 70% before arriving at the hotel and finding a wall outlet if possible.
Road trip to Florida charging 🧵
First stop in Lima OH at a V2 Supercharger, quite busy for mid afternoon it seems, could use a V3 expansion here. Several hotels and restaurants in close-ish walking distance.

@cybrtrkguy
I listened to a couple sections of this probably 10 times, like the part where
@JasonCammisa
talks about the steer-by-wire system but totally forgot to lead with the 0-60 and drag racing results. Truely a car guy whose mind was genuinely blown by the Cybertruck.
@cybrtrkguy
They probably do need the tech developed for Plaid and CyberTruck, among probably a bit more. I’m also suspecting that if this vehicle does launch, it will not have more than 450mi range.
@MatchasmMatt
Hasn’t Elon said that Texas has excess wind energy at night (hence why they offer Tesla Electric and unlimited overnight vehicle charging for a fixed price)? Could they capture that with MegaPack’s to discharge during the daytime / peak hours? Otherwise it’s like half a nuclear
@iamtomnash
I bought at $290 and $250, as well as at $100 and lots of places in between. Todays price doesn’t really matter since my time horizon is 15-20+ years. I expect to be buying at least through the end of this decade.
@DillonLoomis22
@SawyerMerritt
@elonmusk
It’s crap like this that burns a lot of trust in my mind for government institutions. More reason to vote for political candidates that want to cut the government fat in any and every way possible.
@bradsferguson
It’s certainly possible, however I’m not expecting the Juniper refresh until 2025 - was there some new leaked information that made the rounds?
@greggertruck
There is a reason that adoption of disruptive tech is like an S-curve, some folks just don’t want to change, no matter what the benefits may be.
The reality is they will be more or less forced to change in some way or another, mostly driven by economics.
@TSLAFanMtl
It will be mocked by many in the rust belt area, give it 9-12 months from the first customer deliveries, then mockery will die down and many will reluctantly acknowledge it’s a giant success and is stealing sales.
@TesCalendar1
It’s so worth it to just buy (if you can afford it) and enjoy the heck out of any Tesla. If you’re waiting for “the best version” then you’ll always be waiting and never enjoying the product.
@Tesla
This is fantastic. It really puts the narrative in place that Tesla is under attack, and needs everyone, everyone who believes in the company, to vote to do what’s best, redomesticate to Texas and make sure Elon gets paid.
@spotted_model
Nice! I’ve got my roof box on for my 500-ish mile round trip for the
@teslaownersmi
Summer Meetup this weekend. Taking the roof box is mostly an exercise in figuring out efficiently/velocity and timing charging stops in advance of a couple week long vacations in July and August.
@DrKnowItAll16
There is trillions in financial interest in not upsetting the status quo of auto manufacturers, suppliers, insurers, marketers, ad agencies, publishers, pension plans, retirement funds, etc. Literally as AV/AD’s become statistically safer than human driving, all those entities
@stevenmarkryan
I’m in total agreement. FSD makes auto & energy businesses look like a drop in a bucket, and the bot makes that FSD bucket just one in an Olympic sized swimming pool.
Then I started realizing, the bot is just the labor that is producing things, or doing services, what is the
