Hi so !! Pre-eclampsia is literally life threatening !!! Like it’s not just “oh my blood pressure is high and my ankles are swollen” it’s like “can and will cause a stroke or multi-organ failure if untreated.” You guys know that, right? It’s important to me that you know that.

A med student with a social media following recently said patients shouldn’t trust an “unhealthy” doctor. People gain or lose weight for countless reasons. Thyroid issues. Grief. Pregnancy. Stress. Recovery from addiction. And in training? Forget it. Be kind to yourself first!

In 18 years as an ER doc, I ask about immigration status about as often as I ask about insurance—which is never My job is to respond to the person in front me, as if neither immigration or insurance matters Because in that moment, neither of those things matter So tell me,

REPORTER: Should ERs check immigration status before treating a dying patient? LEAVITT: That's probably not a question for me to answer. That's a question for healthcare professionals and legal experts to answer. (That's not a no!)

“Nazi” isn’t a slur. It’s a word that describes real people who earnestly believe in their ideas. Their ideas are disgusting and hateful, but of course they often do not realize it. I keep running into racists who think that it’s not white supremacist to think that white people

Finally beginning Step 3 prep and I'm...dare I say excited? It feels weirdly nostalgic to do some practice questions and review concepts for a concrete event on a known date, rather than for the abstract pressure to constantly be ready that I've felt since starting residency.
