With the new era of rich proteomic datasets, the ability to replicate signals across different study designs is really important in trying to identify effects which are driven by the phenotype of interest (in this case, BMI). 3/4

We also integrated Mendelian randomization estimates for the effect of body mass index (BMI) on plasma proteins in the INTERVAL study. Consistent effects across the three studies provided evidence for a causal effect of BMI on 6 proteins. 2/4

Nice to see our paper out in @SciReports. We used data from two weight loss trials (@ByBandSleeve and the Diabetes Remission Clinical Trial) to explore the effects on circulating proteins. https://t.co/jXGY28K8O9 1/4

Best way to learn Mendelian Randomisation is on the Lake Victoria - Africa's largest lake by area, the world's largest tropical lake. This is how we do it in Uganda @MRC_Uganda with an excellent team of tutor from @mrc_ieu @lucygoudswaard @venexia @explodecomputer

Fantastic lecture delivered today by @venexia @mrc_ieu on the Basic concept of Mendelian Randomisation and One sample MR. The practical session lead by @lucygoudswaard @venexia Amanda Chong, David Hughes @explodecomputer @Chriskintu2021 better helps to undersatnd the concept
