I’ve always found the similarities between the Liberals and GOP (drop ideals to win at any cost) and the CPC and the Democrats (hold on to policies in spite of their unpopularity) so fascinating.
The most wrong yet persistent heuristic for understanding Canadian politics is that the Liberals are wonky idealists and the Conservatives are win-at-all-cost political operators.

It’s absolutely unacceptable that the Bloc Québécois Leader is insistent on blocking Atlantic Canada from accessing Western Canada's energy. In the national interest, I urge him to rethink his position and support increasing our country’s energy security.
