In the last 4 weeks - this Government has: ❌ not replied to our letter in Nov, our invite to get a deal done 😞 turned away 000s of qualified medics from NHS jobs 📉 quietly pushed a real terms pay cut for doctors …is that the behaviour of a Govt who wants to get a deal?
Doctors should not have to strike to be heard. It's not too late for @wesstreeting to return to the negotiating table and avoid this industrial action. We remain committed to negotiating a solution on jobs and pay. #EndTrainingCrisis #PayRestoration

@docanonx @SaulStaniforth What’s so frustrating though is that there’s a need for paeds cons. In NI we have the longest waiting times for OPD paeds appts and yet the jobs just don’t exist. I believe around 20 more paediatricians are to CCT this summer in NI. No idea what we will all do.

My mental health declined pretty badly last week & I still feel as though I'm at the bottom of a well in the dark, but some of you asked for more photos like the hunt-the-tiny-owl one I made recently & I so wanted to try to make an advent calendar for you so here's a start: some

Looking at behaviour of English and NI health ministers and the extent of their prejudice and disrespect towards GPs tells us they’re looking for a destructive fight. Patient care will suffer

This agreement dwarfs the cost of full pay restoration for doctors. There is money, but only to pay multibillion dollar American companies.
NEW: NHS will need to absorb billions of pounds from existing budgets to cover increased medicine spend Comes as gov announces deal to end medicines stand off with Trump https://t.co/hcAhpF4UeG

📍++ competitive medical school entry 📍£100,000 student debt 📍 Starting salary £18/hour 📍 Pay 28% LESS than 10 yrs ago 📍Mass Unemployment after FY2 📍”No funding” for training posts 📍 Gov ARE funding for 19K ACPs to act as pseudo-doctors So yes, I fully support Resident drs

So, we are paying more for medicines… at the exact moment we can’t afford to pay enough Drs to prescribe them Resident Drs announce another strike. Streeting won’t talk to them. It is the public who are paying more taxes to ‘protect public services & the NHS’
Streeting knows the maths don’t add-up. He’s left it too late to restore waiting target promises, by the end of this parliament. If he’s looking for an ‘out’… the strikes are tailor made.

Had to feel vocational towards a career when you have £100K debt, are paid £18/hour and face unemployment after F2.
@gillianthurston @DoctorsVoteUK The problem is doctors no longer have a vocation. Current residents work half the hours in training than I did and until I retired my time on call and in the hospital as a consultant was nearly double theirs. Striking is unethical and endangers patients and loses public support

The always sensible Louella, who brings receipts and context.
Dear Gordon, Thanks for the offer to discuss RCEM's stance on workforce substitution. I would be delighted to engage. Firstly, I think that RCEM is the best of all the Colleges. I am not a member, but I have sat on RCEM committees and had good relationships with most 1/

Doctors Association UK (DAUK) is calling for the Government to introduce a new GP contract that puts patients at the centre of care.
.@THTorguk got Labour, Conservative and Green MPs together tonight to speak with one voice in support of our shared goal to end new HIV transmissions by 2030. There was a time when this wasn’t remarkable, but in the current climate it matters. Thanks @StuartAndrew @sianberry.

Very much this. I know many bereaved families who have stepped away from the Amos review or are engaging only minimally because it's actually dangerous to our mental health. I have been worried for people's safety at times because of the additional harm caused by this process
And can't put into words how stressful engaging with it over the summer was for our Sussex group. Truly pushed us to the brink - particularly when also battling for progress on our independent review.
