Rejoining Erasmus must be the first step on a clear roadmap to a closer relationship with Europe. We need to see the Government negotiate a bespoke UK-EU customs union, and commit to a youth mobility scheme for benefit of the next generation.

Coincidentally, tomorrow I’ll be handing in a petition in Parliament calling to abolish the House of Lords as we know it. Jobs for life handed out to friends and donors have no place in public life. This broken model is eroding trust in our politics and institutions.
Starmer tells Liaison Committee that the work to reduce the size of the House of Lords is "ongoing" – citing the removal of the hereditaries. Yet the Electoral Reform Society notes he has already created 96 peers in 18 months – more than the outgoing 92 hereditaries.

There is an inevitable risk that once jury trials are suspended for certain crimes, they will never come back. The Government should not drop the high standards of jury trials in the face of a challenge, but instead look at creative measures and reforms to meet it.
