if you are into making policy-focused video, apply for this ASAP! the GOAT @JerusalemDemsas is saying "in DC" but tbh even if you just live within easy train distance of DC, you should try. i managed to convince @voxdotcom to allow this back in the day, paying it fwd
HIRING >> @TheArgumentMag is a small, scrappy media startup making sharp, data-driven, actually-persuasive content about politics, culture, and policy. We’re looking for someone **in DC** who wants to help us turn great conversations into must-watch, must-share video and

Yes but look at those income bands… 40% of nyc households make $100k+. The leavers aren’t who everyone thinks they are

I think @mattyglesias is right that reform will be a crucial step for @ZohranKMamdani to deliver. But as a video journalism person, it’s genuinely inspiring to see video journalism tools winning. I have to believe their amazing storytelling powers might help at this stage too

Z knows what's up. SUCH an inspiring night, which featured Dean Baquet saying "What @cleoabram said" over and over
Next to “marrying up” in the dictionary should have a picture of my face - smiling ear to ear. Last night, my better half @cleoabram was awarded a Poynter award with Dean Baquet. To see her introduced by @DKThomp and discuss the future of journalism with Dean filled my heart.

what's really cool is that NYC already does this for its employees and their families on its health care plan, and its not just a pipe-dream, just a simple and real thing that helps people

if anybody reading this is interested in building an engine for curiosity driven, non-ideologically-purist, factual, nutritious, entertaining, politically relevant and innovative storytelling, there are MANY of us who've spend years building such a thing

reminds me of my brother ranting about the soulless electronic music that was replacing “real” music like nirvana in the 90s. (he ended up making fantastic electronic music professionally for over a decade.)
I don’t want filmmaking “available to anyone” who thinks they have a calling to it. I don’t want the world drowned in slop by guys who think they’re geniuses because they tell a machine to do things. We need a hard ban on soulless, AI-generated media. Art is for human beings.

hundreds of millions of people with free will choose to use it every week. that’s a lot of people potentially profiting.
the people pushing the “AI is here to stay” narrative are mostly… wait for it… the people who will profit from AI staying. AI is not here to stay if we kick it out and slam the fucking door

The ongoing intimidation of old media shows an unsettling value of companies so big they rival governments in power: Russian broadcasters unwilling to propagandize moved from TV to YouTube. And you can bet Colbert, Kimmel, and more will be there this time next year.

the worst song ever made is actually the combination of overly restrictive zoning regulations, minimum parking requirements, and homeowner veto power that have led to the housing crisis
