Excellent analysis by Lucy as ever. Expecting few prosecutions under the Hate Crime Act is one thing but the Govt has no idea how many disruptive investigations will take place. The expected chill factor is the most sinister aspect of the legislation.
I wish we’d known when the hate crime bill was being discussed that if a police officer believes I have published something which is a criminal offence, they can tell me that they believe that, without also telling me at the same time what it is I have published that does so.

Medics should also be allowed to act in line with their consciences. Gender critical views are protected in law. There’s a strong argument for allowing doctors to opt out of controversial interventions pertaining to gender dysphoria.
