Generating electricity from fossil fuels is very inefficient. Moving from coal to solar reduces primary energy consumption by 2/3 at the point of electricity generation.

Breaking: India's power sector emissions fell for only the second time in half a century, due to both cyclical factors and record clean energy growth. Clean energy projects in the pipeline can peak India's power sector emissions well before 2030.

Electricity is the largest provider of useful energy since surpassing oil in 2007 📈 Useful energy is a measure of what we get out of the system to actually deliver services like powering homes and running factories–not just what we put in. https://t.co/ogWUDYrw96

New battery record of 10.03 GW peak discharge rate on the California ISO grid on Tuesday, May 20, 2025! 10 GW=41% of the yearly average 24.3 GW of demand on the grid in 2024 Batteries are 4-h, so 10 GW = 40 GWh of storage = 6.9% of 582 GWh average daily demand on grid in '24

Our campaign finance system is totally corrupt — impacting BOTH  political parties.   If we want a government representing working families, not billionaires, we need to overturn Citizens United and move to the public funding of elections.

If we reach 1.5°C, this is what is going to happen: ‼️Every fraction of a degree matters—beyond 1.5°C, the risks and damages from extreme weather, sea-level rise, and biodiversity loss increase dramatically. No time to wait. #ActOnClimate #climate #energy #renewables

From Climeworks CEO, capturing 1 tonne-CO2 requires 5,000-6,000 kWh https://t.co/znX6RJPT8j But 1 tonne CO2 results from producing ~3,300 kWh (~120 PWh/y world end-use demand/36.8 GT-CO2/y emitted) So DAC needs 52-82% more energy than used to put CO2 in air in the first place
