Giving a deputation just after us was @SOSLeith on sewer overflows in the lower water of Leith. Praising @ERCScot for their legal help to take their case to @EnvStanScot. Hope to hear more from them soon!

Today's fact-finding walk with @SOSLeith showed concerns that sewage could be spilling into the Water of #Leith Overflow systems must be monitored & managed closely to ensure waters remain safe for locals & animals. I'll continue to engage with @scotgov & @scottish_water on this

Excellent tour of Port of #Leith by @forthports. Fascinating to see remnants of old industries alongside development of a vast new 'Renewables Hub' along the northern edge, due for completion by the end of 2024. Among many things we learned:

There's no point in environmental regulation that doesn't have sufficient grounds to actually start tests. Glad to get committee's support for CEC to follow this up with ScotGov after resident & x-party concerns were raised. The fight for a cleaner Water of Leith continues... 🌊

Send them back to Steptoe’s Yard or wherever they were picked up. Then work with local schools & artists to design something unique, vibrant and colourful so they enhance the street.
The new planters are bins and graffiti magnets. Any ideas on solutions? Perhaps more regular bins and pickups, particularly after events like the jazz festival, with planters adopted for art graffiti like the shop fronts on Leith Walk... what do you think?

Monthly clean up of the Leith basin complete with the boat pulling out a lot of plastic waste. Whilst this was going on, we prepared the walls for the Coalie Park mural and did additional planting along the verges. @Edinburgh_CC @PathsforAll @SustransScot @SOSLeith

Last week I saw concerns with @SOSLeith that the Water of #Leith could be polluted with sewage. Urgent action must be taken to protect public health. I'll pursue this with @scottish_water & have asked the Minister to join me in visiting the Water. Read: https://t.co/X0N4AVju4z
