A lovely morning around Colinton in the autumnal sunshine with our amazing volunteers. As always, there were plenty of leaves matted to the walkway, making it slippy and covering the edges, making it hazardous. We cleared them off, refreshed some drainage, and foraged for litter.

Options in Life usually visit in summer, but this week their Monday group came for an Autumn Exploration! Kat led them through the Dells to enjoy the changing colours, spot fungi, toast marshmallows by the fire and they even made hot chocolate with the storm kettle.

Some snaps from my post run walk at Coalie Park on the Water of Leith. The mural was designed by a former flatmate of mine. #Leith

A busy Monday session improving the Balerno stretch this morning. Bavelaw burn tributary cleaned of rubbish, walkway swept of leaves , cherry laurel brash fence created to reduce rubbish being blown into the river. A great start to the week @Edinburgh_CC @KSBScotland

Thanks to everyone who came out this morning around the Visitor Centre, despite the rain! We raked off the walkway and cut back privat to let more light in and dry up the path. We also collected several bags of rubbish and enjoyed a lovely tea break in the warmth of the centre.😎

Big sky country today up at Riccarton, where we've been mapping Japanese Knotweed stands for treatment next year on the Murrayburn. Bag of rubbish collected from the layby as well.

In Edinburgh briefly on Friday so walked a couple of miles of the Water of Leith. Trout from Glenogle Place bridge; Dipper at Dean bridge probably appearing, unnoticed, in hundreds of tourist photos; Heron and Kingfisher behind Modern One.

Great to have young people from Portobello, Firrhill, and WHEC out at the visitor centre today with the JET Academy, learning some vocational skills for employment. We raked off leaves, keeping the boardwalk and paths safe, and cut back some overhanging privat. Great job guys! ✈️

They seek the rubbish here, they seek the rubbish there, volunteers seek it everywhere. Thus it was great to get a hand from employees of @thetrainline , who have been out over the past two weeks cleaning up their local stretch of the walkway as part of their working day.

A good turn out of volunteers for our monthly clean up of Leith. The boat team removed lots of waste that had been washed down including 2 litter carts, whilst on dry land we continued to clear leaves to keep the walkway in good order. @Edinburgh_CC

In a look back at October's 2 min 'Wildlife on the Water of Leith' video, a tawny owl has a bath in the river, a spooky looking fox at Halloween & find out why a young roe deer doesn't need Deliveroo on the #waterofleith! Enjoy! #wildlife #urbanwildlife #edinburgh #urbanriver
