Most so-called “great novels” are absolute snoozers. And a large chunk of them, especially those written in the 20th Century, aren't worth the time you spend deciphering theme, motif, symbolism, etc because once you do, you find they're just another paean to dissoluteness.

It's funny that for years we've been talking about how bad omnipresent screens and devices are for kids' education and just in the last year or two it somehow found a way to get exponentially worse (LLMs), which I really didn't think was possible.

Why are Tolkein fans, and Tolkein, so insistent that he wasn't influenced by Wagner. Of course he was. It's like the most obvious borrowing in the history of art. It's fine! Who wasn't under the shadow of Wagner? Is there some sort of weird anxiety of influence thing going on?.

Unironically good bit to go viral with a song that's like "Pedo elites keep on raisin' our tax/While the fat welfare queens keep on munchin' their snacks" and then get mad at Republicans for liking it.

I remember a couple decades ago when The DaVinci Code was widely mocked for having prose that was slightly better than this. I guess this is normal now.
