Wisconsin lost its democracy all at once, in 2010. It took 13 years of hard battling, inch by, inch, to get much of it back.
One point Greta Neubauer makes powerfully is that voters had to show up again and again and again (in 2018 to beat Scott Walker, 2020 to beat Trump, 2023 in the state supreme court race) to make this possible. Incrementalism is unsatisfying but it's how democracy is regained.
