They had come to the desolation that lay before Mordor: the lasting monument to the dark labour of its slaves that should endure when all their purposes were made void; a land defiled, diseased beyond all healing – unless the Great Sea should enter in and wash it with oblivion

None of the replies say "capitalism", so this is clearly the thing people really don't realize is a scam.

No-one on £100k is paid overtime. They are all salaried. And they don't worry about buying something that costs £100 if they want it, unless they've made some very poor life decisions.
Putting things provocatively, imagine someone earning £100k who is considering whether to work overtime to buy something worth £100. To do that they need to earn £315.80. HMRC takes: - £189.48 in income tax - £6.32 in NIC - £20.00 in VAT They have to earn £315.80 to buy

People on £100k are 4% of taxpayers - 2.6% of the population. The more money the top has, the more they buy the assets you need to live - housing in particular - the more rent they charge for them, and the less you have left in your pocket.
Billionaires are a sign that your system is working The more Billionaires you have, the more Millionaires you'll have. The more Millionaires, the more people on £100k And on it goes 😊 Capitalism makes everyone richer - no other system has. Let's restore Capitalism

Socialism IS abundance. > increase in the income share of the bottom 20 percent (the poor) is associated with .. higher growth. This positive relationship .. continues to hold for the second and third quintiles (the middle class). https://t.co/IPROaaBK26
Major 21st century political figure, has won 27 states in running for president, most popular politician in the US vs NYT columnist who gets 35k per speech, for whom no one has ever voted, whose career has been devoted to opposing economic populism and making the rich richer.

The private housing market is the REASON rents are high. Here we have someone complaining that the state is capable of working for it's people. It's clear that we need MORE social housing, not less, to depress the price of private rents so that everyone can afford more living.
Social tenants pay just a quarter of the rent of open-market housing, for a secure lifetime tenancy. Using the figures below, every social tenant gets a subsidy of nearly £20,000 a year, tax-free (equivalent to a £30k pay rise).

If most of your income is taxable under Income Tax, you're not the kind of rich we need to be taxing more.
Income tax 2008 (inflation adjustment in brackets): Personal allowance 0%: £5,225 (£8,574) Starting rate 10%: £0 to £2,230 (to £3,656) Basic rate 22%: £2,231 to £34,600 (to £56,733) Higher rate 40%: Over £34,600 (over £56,733) Income tax 2025: Personal Allowance 0%: Up to

Thing is, Corbyn was roundly lambasted because he is the guy who entered diplomatic relations with groups of people who were demonised - Hamas included - because he recognises that an endless cycle of hatred either ends at the negotiation table, or with the extinction of one side
"The Greens believe that we can have diplomatic relations with Israel, and we think that is not okay." @zarahsultana breaks down the difference between Your Party and Zack Polanski's Greens. Watch the full interview, live now.

Excel's genius was providing working input AND output filters for Lotus 1-2-3, the market leader at the time. People could try it out with no risk that they couldn't go back. Now you have tools like Miro that encrypt your backups - with a key only they have - forcing you to stay.
Lotus's decision in the 1980s to convert its DOS products to OS2 rather than Windows, little remembered today, was one of the truly catastrophic mistakes in modern IT history. Lotus opened the door wide for Excel and Word, and relegated itself to the dustbin of history.

I've been on protests of 50,000 people in Manchester. They looked roughly like this - the whole of Oxford road full. This is not "millions" of people. Remember, the entire population of London is 9 million. There is no way you fit "millions" into this space.
🚨NEW: TOMMY ROBINSON HIRES HELICOPTER TO EXPOSE MEDIA LIES 🇬🇧🚁 Beautiful scenes as aerial footage captures the true scale of the London Free Speech Rally - with millions filling the streets. 🔴 Robinson anticipated MSM would downplay the numbers 🔴 Helicopter footage shows a

Capitalism IS hypocrisy. It claims to reward work. It rewards owners with the fruits of _your_ work. It claims that the most virtuous rise to the top, but that position is reserved for those who exploit the most.
"Young people aren’t anti-capitalist. They’re just sick of corporate hypocrisy," per FORTUNE Do you agree?

There are a few hundred people here, tops. I've been on marches in Manchester that filled Oxford road end to end. 50,000 people, easily. The press did their best to minimise them. The videographer here is doing his best to make it look far bigger than it is.

Here in the UK we just _forced_ every online platform for adults to gather this kind of data. What are the odds that they're _all_ paragons of virtue and benchmarks of competence?
Give it a rest. The real scoop is that Tea were storing 13,000 highly sensitive photos of users / IDs that (a) they told users were 'immediately deleted' but weren't, and (b) were stored in a publicly available data bucket (!!), with no password or encryption, that literally

Capitalism is : - I own the tools that made this so I own the product - I'll pay the labour less than the value they add In the stone age, if someone demanded a cut of your deer because you got the stone in the arrow from one of their footprints, they'd get bonked on the head
Calling capitalism an “ideology” is kind of ridiculous. “Millions were killed by capitalism” is a ridiculous thing to say. Capitalism is just the default mode of economics. “I made this item and I will sell it for something else” has been going on since ancient times.

Leadership, by definition, requires the effort of workers. Innovation requires all the discoveries that went before. Risk taking .. is relative, especially when your dad owned an emerald mine. Whatever his contribution, it's still not worth 237,000x as much as the regular guy.
If you think wealth should be based on how hard someone works, you have a poverty mindset. It means you ascribe zero value to innovation, leadership, or risk-taking. Complete loser mentality.
