Mahmood Mamdani's whole body of scholartship is devoted to showing how identity politics came out a historical experience of colonialism and criticizing them. The Zohran campaign has precipitated an outbreak of smart people saying really silly things.
This whole thing is dumb, as are these categories (Asian covers, you know, a lot of differences), and I would cut Zohran some slack and assume he was some silly 18yr old kid if both his parents entire career wasn't about focusing on the minor power differences and various nuances.

Well-known communist Paul Krugman welcomed Mamdani's nomination on his substack but, sure, go ahead, keep pretending it's the mid 20th century to tell people scary bedtime stories.
Mamdani has explicitly said that “capitalism is theft,” workers need to “seize the means of production,” and the police should be defunded, but many people on the left continue to misrepresent his views by claiming he is merely proposing “incredibly modest reforms”.

If you think this op-ed is in the NYT for any other reason than she is Larry Summer's wife I have some crypto to sell you. I have no idea why the liberal establishment has decided Larry is just a peer of the realm and that we can't live without him.
Elisa New, my wife, has an op-ed in the @nytopinion today, "Walt Whitman Would Have Hated This. " In it, she asks what kind of nation we will be without the National Endowment for the Humanities and the larger cultural infrastructure DOGE defunded. A lesser one.
