In the meantime, we need to help people pursue a range of education and training, to avoid experiencing poverty, and to honor their humanity and desire to love productive lives.

Still, we should also recognize that employment needs and demand continue to evolve, and getting more and new training will be necessary for most people over their working lives. I wait for the day that skilled trades workers get the same respect as lawyers.

📷.I appreciate this op-ed is staking out a position that honors a broader range of work beyond jobs that require a college degree. It shouldn't be necessary but it has been long in coming. But, we all suffer if we pretend to live in an either-or world.
