My thoughts are with Alex Zanardi tonight. He has defied the odds his whole life, always done the seemingly impossible. When we raced against each other I realised there was never a point in any race that in his mind he was beaten.

If we’re being completely honest here... early in qualifying my foot missed the brake pedal , I braked 100 yards later than on any other lap and still made the corner. So I discovered that the braking point was 100 yards later and gained a load of time 😂

At the end of 95 I drove the McLaren MP4/10 as part of my young driver test. The brakes, acceleration and fast corner grip on a different level to anything I’d driven before 😍
Seemed to go well, a job offer as test driver came 18 months later but I’d already committed to the US
