Good @IMS road course test yesterday. Today, prepping for @gtworldcham Indy 8 Hour and back at it getting oval ready for test later this month (tire dragging, saw cutting, and sod replacement).

We had a very historic week @IMS! For the first time since the fall of 1909, we unearthed the original track surface while repairing a line of bumps at the exit of Turn 2. We immediately presented it to the Museum for safe keeping and eventually display for all to enjoy!
For the first time, all three track surface types are on display at the Museum. This week during a Turn 2 repaving project, IMS officials uncovered the original crushed rock and tar track surface from 1909—116 years ago! See this piece of history in the Track Lounge.

Where it all began. 🥹 Today, we uncovered the brick racing surface that hasn't been seen since 1937, and even the crushed stone and tar that was the original track surface in 1909 during a Turn 2 repave project. It will be documented this fall on Behind the Bricks!

Well, we found real history! A bit over 12 inches below today’s @IMS Turn 2 asphalt is the Original 1909 stone and tar surface!!! So so cool! This place never stops surprising us!

Not often we get to really see our history! This morning, we’re taking out an area where the Bricks are talking to us through bumps at exit of @IMS T2. It will help us understand better how to keep the track’s surface smooth going forward. 116 years ago they were going in!
