Last but not least (for historical reasons). The House of God by Samuel Shem. Wow does it read like it was written in the 1970s and is hard to get through at times, but sadly still has plenty of truths in medicine today and the (in)famous rules -- Age + BUN = lasix dose

Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach. An honest insight into the process of dying and the impact of body donors in medical training and beyond from a journalist. Very quick read, would recommend!

⭐️Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese. An @AnnaGaddy recommendation I finally got around to that MORE than exceeded expectations. Painful, funny, and a realistic insight into practicing medicine abroad and in the US! His writing flows so nicely and paints a brilliant story

⭐️The Three Body Problem series by Cixin Liu -- waiting on book 3 from Libby. Ooooooh boy this scratched the hard sci-fi itch I'd been having! The Netflix show gives it a good representation as well. Go in knowing nothing about the series and hang on for the ride

Every Patient Tells a Story: Medical Mysteries and the Art of Diagnosis by Lisa Sanders. Solid frameworks to consider patient diagnoses, with interesting reminders of how much things have changed since the early 2000s. The inspiration for "House"!
